LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Looks like a comment made by ‘Desperate Housewives’ star Eva Longoria, 48, didn’t sit well with ‘The Young and The Restless’ actor Eric Braeden as he criticized her with scathing remarks on the internet.

In a recent interview with CNN, Longoria got candid about her various appearances on national television with the eponymous host of ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?’ During the chat, ‘The Unplugging’ actress was asked about her role as Isabella Brana on ‘The Young and the Restless’, which she played from 2001 to 2003. The actress-restaurateur was immensely surprised when the host of the talk show played a clip from the show. “Oh god, don’t show a clip! Are you going to show a clip of that,” the flabbergasted actress reacted. As Wallace continued to play the clip, the ‘Tell It Like a Woman’ star said, “Oh my god, I can't believe you found that.”

When Wallace asked her about her doing two jobs at a time, the L’Oreal model reminisced,  "When I moved to Hollywood, I had my bachelor's degree, and so when I tell my mom, 'I'm going to be an actress,' she was like, 'Well.' She was fine because I had graduated college.” Longoria has a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and a master's from California State University, Northridge.

However, her pay as an actor didn’t let her live a comfortable life as she said, "But when I got The Young and the Restless, it didn’t pay enough for me to live off being an actor.” The star who worked as a headhunter in a temp agency then recalled, “I would hide the fact that I was on Young and the Restless to my clients because they didn’t want, like, a dumb actress handling their accounts.”

She also joked about an incident when one of her clients recognized her from the show and told her she looked like someone from ‘The Young and the Restless’, then she replied hilariously, “No, that’s not– I don’t know who that is.” She further added, “I was like the opposite of a publicist’s dream. I was like, ‘Don’t tell anybody I’m on that show!’ Because I was still making more money on my day job.”

What did Eric Braeden say?

Braeden, who has been playing the Newman family patriarch Victor Newman since 1980, didn’t like the comment made by Longoria as he took to his Twitter to post a scathing remark. He wrote, “You were very lucky to get on that ‘housewife’ show! You did one show in 8-12 days, with mediocre but  salacious dialogue!”

He added a second tweet blasting the actress that read, “Our actresses would run rings around you!! And they did then!! From Robert di Nero to whoever they all are, many of them started in the medium you denigrate! It shows a complete lack of class!!”

This was not the end as Braeden continued posting on the thread. He further added, "There you go! She was a caricature!!" In reply to another user's comment, he said, "She just wasn’t very good, simple as that!!!" When a fan made a sarcastic comment about her acting, he said, "I don‘t criticize her for that! Never would, but I will make remarks when she puts down daytime acting!! As I said, my female colleagues would act rings around her!!!"

Braeden continued to vocalize on what irritated him the most and tweeted, "Come on now, the whole tenor of that segment was one of embarrassment about her stint in Y&R and HOUSEWIVES! What did you not get about that?"

'The GOAT Victor Newman wants ALL THE SMOKE and I'm here for it!'

The Internet seemed divided by the remarks by the two actors. However, most sided with Braeden for bashing her, with one fan tweeting, "I cannot (and would never try to) speak for her, but my takeaway was less a commentary on daytime actors, and more a commentary on an industry that doesn’t give a lot of daytime actors the respect or pay they deserve, due to a bias the media enables - and that she feared."

Another commented, "I guess she forgot, or never truly knew how hard daytime performers work." "Saw the clip. She was definitely embarrassed about her time on soaps. I have heard its the toughest acting medium there is so I agree…she should be proud of it..well not her performance..I like her but..lets just say..hope her perf isnt on her reel," said another.
