'It's getting even SCARIER to be a woman': Emily Ratajkowski shows support for Amber Heard in TikTok clip

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski gave the impression that she is in support of Amber Heard as she enumerated all the reasons why being a woman in 2022 is "scarier". Ratajkowski noted one of the numerous occasions in which the phrase "It's 2022 and it's getting even SCARIER to be a woman" is relevant on TikTok, citing the unfavorable backlash toward Heard and the massive support for Depp.

Heard has faced a lot of backlash on social media from the beginning of the defamation trial and through the course of the public legal battle with her former husband Johnny Depp. A Virginia jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive penalties during a defamation trial in June, while Heard earned $2 million in compensatory damages.

Ratajkowski posted a six-second clip over the weekend with the statement, "It's 2022 and it's getting even SCARIER to be a woman." She lip-syncs and says, "I'm not scared of [lions] and [tigers] and [bears]" as she reveals a list of her fears in the TikTok video.

The writing on the clip read, "Roe v Wade getting overturned, Harvey getting an appeal, Shia's Redemption Tour, the way y'all dragged Amber and the precedent that court case set," as Ratajkowski filmed herself holding her head up in front of the camera while wearing nothing but white.

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade in June, which had previously made abortion legal in the US since 1972. Ratajkowski also pointed to Harvey Weinstein, a former powerhouse in the entertainment industry who is currently doing time in prison for several sex crimes.

Ratajkowski also referred to actor Shia LaBeouf, who has been charged with sexual assault and abuse by singer and ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs and the trial will be held in April 2023. The infamous Depp and Heard defamation trial was Ratajkowski's last focus of concern.

Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Heard after she disclosed in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that she had experienced domestic abuse. Heard experienced a lot of online criticism throughout the course of the trial.

The majority of pro-Heard commenters praised the model for using her platform to highlight the backlash Heard is receiving. One individual commented, "So refreshing having you at the table. The amber heard trial set us back and forced us into convos men & some women weren’t ready to have. Thank you."

Another individual wrote, "Finally someone has the guts in Hollywood to stand up for the unintended consequences of the Johnny / Amber trial."

Some did not agree with Ratajkowski, highlighting the Heard part in particular.

One individual commented, "So u believe amber that's scary and sad 🥺." Another individual wrote, "Johnny was an abuse victim. You can't imagine what he went through, and you certainly can't say how you would react privately."

One Twitter user calling out the fact that Ratajkowski didn't see the trial wrote, "They just buy into what they're sold by the "leaders" of the movement to demonize Depp, instead of seeing how Amber was a liar. They didn't watch the trial. That court case "set the precedent" (if it did) that you can't accuse someone of horrific crimes if they didn't happen."

Another user wrote, "I'm as feminist as it comes but If you WATCHED depp v heard you would see that she defamed him (as the jury found)." A third user wrote, "So noting on the false allegations of one AH? She makes it hard to be a woman too because she lied repeatedly and was busted. I see why she took her story to a tabloid and not the courts. She would have lost outright if she did. She's getting her karma big time now. #MenToo."
