LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise is gearing up for his upcoming film 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One', set to release on July 12, 2023. The Hollywood legend has a well-earned reputation for being a daredevil with a penchant for extreme stunts that will scare even professional stuntmen.

But Cruise faced a life-threatening moment once when he had to step back and allow someone else to take the wheel during an action sequence. In the 2014 film 'Edge of Tomorrow', Cruise starred alongside Emily Blunt, and in a surprising twist, he found himself in the passenger seat while Blunt took charge of the action-packed car chase scene.

'Oh God! Brake the car!'

During her appearance on 'Conan', the 40-year-old actress opened up about the filming experience. Blunt recalled that things took an unexpected turn as the vehicle suddenly went off course. The first take didn't go as planned, and director Doug Liman called for a second take, instructing Blunt to "go a bit faster."

While driving at high speed, Blunt had to make a right-hand turn that caused the vehicle to shake, with her co-star Tom Cruise sitting in the passenger seat. She revealed, "I tear down this part and Tom’s being very quiet behind me I hear him under his breath as I approach the right-hand turn, going ‘Brake, brake, brake. Brake. Brake, brake, brake… Oh God. Brake, brake, brake. Brake the car! Brake the car!’"

'I almost killed Tom Cruise'

The car eventually crashed into a tree, which could have been a dangerous situation. However, both Blunt and Cruise emerged from the incident unharmed. She said, "I left it too late, and so drove us into a tree … I almost killed Tom Cruise." Despite the near-disaster, Blunt reflected on the situation with a mix of humor and fear. She described the incident as both amusing and nerve-wracking, acknowledging that she came close to causing harm to her illustrious co-star.

However, the hard work paid off as the movie grossed $370 million, which was more than twice the cost of its making, and is currently available on Netflix. 'Edge of Tomorrow' is based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's 2004 Japanese novel 'All You Need is Kill'. The story is set in a future where Earth is under alien occupation. Cruise plays Major William Cage, who becomes involved in a perilous mission against the aliens. However, things take a twist as Cage finds himself trapped in a time loop, reliving the same events repeatedly in his quest to find a strategy to overcome the invaders.
