Rod Stewart and Elton John have always maintained a healthy banter and have remained frenemies for the longest time. However, their latest feud looks could cast a massive and permanent shadow over their friendship.

During an interview with a Scottish radio over the weekend, Stewart revealed that the pair have not spoken to each other for several months, reported Express.

74-year-old Stewart shared, "I do love Elton, only we're not talking at the moment. We've had a spat". When asked to elaborate, Stewart shared, "It's because I criticized his tour as being money-grabbing".

The pair's spat goes back to March last year when John had announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour and Stewart had suggested that his farewell tours were becoming a habit.

Since 1977, 72-year-old John has frequently claimed that he would stop performing or singing.

In 2014, while at a festival in France, John had shared, "No more shows, no more music, no more songs".

A year later in 2015, John's tour was called The Final Curtain suggesting that it was a finale.

However, Stewart's jab at him did not sit well with John.

During an interview last year, Stewart had also said that John's retirement tour "stinks of" selling tickets. "It's dishonest. It's not rock 'n' roll".

Stewart had also spoken about the Freddie Mercury movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and called it a "great rock 'n' rock film". He compared it to the Elton John biopic 'Rocketman' and said, "I don't think this quite lived up to it".

The pair have been acting like an old married couple for over five decades now.

Stewart refers to John as 'Sharon' while John calls Stewart 'Phyllis'. They first got to know each other in 1965 when John had been playing for the band 'Bluesology' while Stewart was the frontman of another group 'Steampacket'.

Despite having extremely different personalities, Stewart and John became very good friends and fondest rivals.
