NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: You're missing out on a lot if you haven't caught the premiere of CBS's 'Elsbeth.'
This series is the official spin-off of the beloved drama 'The Good Wife,' created by Robert and Michelle King.
The series premiered its first episode on February 29. However, due to the airing of the State of the Union Address and March Madness college basketball in March, the second episode was only released on Thursday, April 4th, 2024.
In the second episode, Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) and Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson) form a friendship as they collaborate on Gloria's (Linda Lavin) murder investigation.
However, a phone call exchange between Elsbeth and Agent Celetano (Danny McCarthy) has left Kaya skeptical of Elsbeth's true intentions.

As depicted in the premiere, Kaya is the only member of the NYPD squad who places confidence in Elsbeth during the investigation of Olivia Cherry (Alex Costello)
Due to Elsbeth's exceptional abilities, they successfully indict Alex Modarianher (Stephen Moyer).
In the most recent episode, Kaya and Elsbeth's relationship continued to strengthen as they solidified their partnership in the investigation. This significant character development contributed to the episode's most heartwarming moment.
Kaya's faith in Elsbeth, however, begins to dwindle when she overhears a phone conversation between her and Agent Celentano, planting a seed of suspicion in Kaya's mind—a significant secret that Elsbeth is keeping from her NYPD squad.

As portrayed in the first episode, Elsbeth is strategically placed within the NYPD by Agent Celetano to covertly inspect Captain CW Wagner (Wendell Pierce).
So why does Agent Celetano want to probe the squad's captain?
Agent Celetano reveals his suspicion to Elsbeth during a separate phone conversation that Wagner might be funneling the bribe money through his wife's charitable foundation. This revelation catches Elsbeth by surprise.
Elsebth, who is regularly watching Wagner, is taken aback, as he seems to be an honest captain who is always hands-on with his teammates. How could he be the corrupt one?
However, Elsebth must carry out her investigation, which will undoubtedly come to light in the future. Judging from Kaya's increasing confidence in her, it's reasonable to predict that she will be the one most impacted by Elsbeth's betrayal.
Now that Elsbeth's eccentric approach to solving the case has started to win over the team, it's worth noting that Kaya's increasing suspicion of her could result in a private investigation, which could expose her true motivations and cause irrevocable anguish.
'Elsbeth' episode 2 is now streaming on Paramount+
