Elon Musk’s ambitious Neuralink makes internet ‘nervous’ as he is ‘confident’ device is ready for humans
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk showcased the progress of Neuralink, the neurotechnology start-up co-founded by him, during an event livestreamed from the firm's headquarters in Fremont on Wednesday, November 30. He stressed on a video of a monkey called Sake, who had a brain implant, conducting an exercise he described as "telepathic typing." Musk said, “To be clear, he's not actually using a keyboard. He's moving the cursor with his mind to the highlighted key. Now technically, he can't actually spell. So I don't wanna oversell this thing, because that's the next version.”
Musk said, "We want to be extremely careful and certain that it will work well before putting a device into a human, but we've submitted I think most of our paperwork to the FDA and we think probably in about six months we should be able to have our first Neuralink in a human. We are now confident that the Neuralink device is ready for humans, so timing is a function of working through the FDA approval process," as per Axios.

See you at 6 pm PT
At the event, Musk and his team shared the technical aspects of it and said, “It's like replacing a piece of your skull with a smartwatch,” reported DailyMail. However, after the update many were left confused and nervous with a person saying, "I am a bit nervous about Neuralink." This was backed by one of many who said, "Elon please help us understand the big picture on Neuralink cuz it’s makes a lot of us nervous." One said, "My dad has been paralyzed for over 30 years. Would love to see Neuralink allow him to walk again!" To which a user responded by saying, "That would be something I would whole heartedly wish for him. Computer neuron interface has huge potential, but I am nervous about how it gets developed."

Many were still left baffled as another person quipped, "This tech makes me VERY nervous. What if some nefarious group figures how to hack it?" While Musk said, "As miraculous as that may sound, we are confident that it is possible to restore full-body functionality to someone who has a severed spinal cord," adding, "Even if they have never seen before, we are confident they could see." An individual said, "Gonna be blind in a few years, sure could use some new eyes!"
