Elon Musk makes irresistible offer to help Monica Lewinsky decide between Tesla and Subaru, Internet goes nuts

Former White House intern-turned-activist Monica Lewinsky sent Twitter into a meltdown on Thursday, September 10, after she tweeted pondering over whether she should buy a Subaru or a Tesla. Although it seemed like a random thought, her tweet went viral after Tesla's founder, Elon Musk, and Subaru reached out with responses of their own.
Lewinsky wrote in her tweet, ''So very me. can’t decide between a subaru or a tesla.''

can’t decide between a subaru or a tesla.
On the next day, the SpaceX founder came across Lewinsky's tweet or may have been pointed toward it by someone and decided to make her an offer she can't refuse. ''Try a Tesla & you’re welcome to give it back if you decide you prefer a Subaru,'' he tweeted.

Not to be outsmarted by their rival, Subaru's official Twitter account also reached out to Lewinsky by reminding her that they were anti-bullying advocates just like her. ''I think you know where we stand on this... Btw, school is back in session - feel free to DM us if you’d like to provide our fans & followers some anti-bullying tips. We think they would align well with our #SubaruLovePromise!'' the company wrote beneath her tweet.

It wasn't difficult to guess which response was preferred by Lewinsky as she chose to respond to Subaru's message while ignoring Musk. ''I will def DM with some anti-bullying tips... October is bullying prevention month!'' Lewinsky replied.

Many people came up with hilarious tips and reactions to the online feud between Tesla and Subaru which was triggered by Lewinsky's post.
Author Jon Ronson urged Lewinsky to opt for Subaru by giving a glorious review of the car. "If it helps, I have a Subaru and everyone I pass look impressed! I love it. It tells the world that we are sensible and we have a very small amount of style," he wrote.

Formula 1 racing executive Mark Gallagher, on the other hand, cast his vote for Tesla since the car company manufactures vehicles that run solely on electricity. Subaru is yet to release a fully-electric vehicle and instead offers some hybrid models that feature gasoline engines and a rechargeable battery. "Better to be electrifying than a fossil," wrote Gallagher.
Producer Peter O Riordan, on the other hand, tried to put Musk in a spot by asking if the generous offer he made to Lewinsky also extended to other auto lovers. "This offer extend to everyone?" he wrote.
Most other people urged Lewinsky to consider a Subaru over Tesla. The following are some of the comments: ''Guuurl.... You better get a Subaru. You won't regret it. I've had my Legacy for 6 years and counting. Love girl Pearl.''

''You used to live in Portland, so you know that if you get a Subaru you're invisible to police and everyone else on the road Plus, Elon Musk is gross.''

"Subaru is a better car period - and doesn't need to be plugged in so if you want to do a road trip, you can. Also - replacement parts are easily available and you won't have to wait months for them."

Lewinsky herself admitted that she has previously owned a Subaru. ''I actually had a used subaru outback that was worth $1200 in parts by the end of college!'' she said.
