SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has managed to ruffle quite a few feathers with his rant against the $600 unemployment benefits package. Musk took to his Twitter handle to express why according to him the stimulus package is 'not in the best interests of the people'.

He tweeted, "Another government stimulus package is not in the best interests of the people imo." In another tweet he continued his explanation, but before getting into it he gave out the disclaimer that he is in favor of 'universal basic income'. He wrote, "As a reminder, I’m in *favor* of universal basic income." He then added, "Goal of government should be to maximize the happiness of the people. Giving each person money allows them to decide what meets their needs, rather than the blunt tool of legislation, which creates self-serving special interests."

Musk was slammed by many for his controversial views. One such criticism came from a user named Armani. The Twitter user pointed out how some of Musk's alleged past actions might not be in the best interest if the people. Armani replied to Musk's tweet with, "You know what wasn't in the best interest of people? the US government organizing a coup against Evo Morales in Bolivia so you could obtain the lithium there."

When Musk noticed Armani's scathing tweet, he retorted back with, "We will coup whoever we want! Deal with it." The SpaceX CEO quickly clarified in a follow-up tweet that he sources his lithium from Australia. He tweeted, "Also, we get our lithium from Australia." Musk's response to Armi about the coup didn't sit well with the internet users, who slammed him for his insensitive statement.

A user tweeted, "Wow admitting to a coup. That’s awesome. No wonder why he was part of trumps elite along with uber CEO. You play with children too musk?" Another user wondered, "What is wrong with you, elon?" "He’s sniffing magic markers tonight I think," declared a user. "You realize saying we will coup whoever we want is disgusting right?" pointed out a user. Another commented, "This isn’t talked about enough. @tesla‘s stock went up last year because of a US-backed coup in Bolivia. They want lithium. And guess what? It’s hurting the indigenous people there and will continue to do so so long as @elonmusk gets the lithium."
