Ellen DeGeneres tells Brad Pitt that she dated two of his girlfriends, actor says he is 'flattered'
The September 13 edition of Ellen saw host Ellen DeGeneres and Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt open up about how they had known each other for decades, before Ellen claimed they had dated the same woman at some point in their lives.
"We met - do you remember where we met?" the 61-year-old talk show host asked Pitt, 55.
"I remember a Melissa Etheridge pool party, where I think you were hitting on my girlfriend," he said in response, People reports.
Ellen then asked Pitt, "Was I hitting on your girlfriend really?" to which he replied saying, "I think so - I was flattered!"
Pitt was romantically linked to several women in the late 80s and early 90s, including Juliette Lewis, Robin Givens, E.G. Daily. At the time, he became famous as the brawny J.D. in Thelma and Louise.
Ellen then surprised Brad, revealing, "I actually sense that I have dated another one of your girlfriends - we'll talk about that later." "After the show!" the Fight Club star responded.
Pitt was applauded for his performance in Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', which saw him play Cliff Booth, a stunt double for fictional actor Rick Dalton (played by Leonardo DiCaprio).
Ellen also commended Pitt for his work with pet pitbull Brandy in the movie, before he explained how far he went to establish a relationship with the canine.
"OK, Tom Cruise, my friend, will ties himself to the side of the airplane so it will take off and land," Pitt said. "I put applesauce on the side of my neck so a pit bull will give me affection - I don't know who's braver!"
Ellen also complimented Pitt for his physique in the film, recalling a scene in which he takes his shirt off to work on a roof. Pitt was embarrassed as the audience cheered and hooted at an image of himself. "To my male friends in the audience, I'm sorry," he quipped.
Booth's character was based on Burt Reynold's longtime stunt double, Hal Needham, and Pitt explained how he had worked hard to look the part.
"He's a stuntman so yeah, he's gotta be in physical shape, so yeah, I prepared - an actor prepares," he said. Pitt's latest movie, Ad Astra, hits theaters on September 20.
