Ellen DeGeneres gets cute and flirty with Portia de Rossi at restaurant amid allegations of rude behavior
In the past few months, Ellen DeGeneres has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Several celebrities, guests of her talk show and even her own personal bodyguard have bashed the TV host for her being cold and rude, completely opposite to the warm and loving persona she is known for.
While there were reports of Ellen struggling with the allegations flooding media over the recent months, her recent outing with her wife Portia de Rossi, told some other story. Ellen looked anything but sad while picking up some dinner in Santa Barbara on Sunday, May 24, evening.
The 62-year-old was spotted getting into some flirtings with Rossi, 47, as they waited to take away dinner from a restaurant. Ellen was seen wearing an Adidas T-shirt and a pair of shorts from the same sports brand. To complete her look, she chose a pair of sneakers and accessorized with aviator sunglasses.
The comedian was also seen wearing a mask but later she pulled it down over her neck while continuing to wait for her takeaway dinner from Lucky's restaurant. At a point during the wait, DeGeneres was seen puffing up her chest while striking a pose for Rossi who took a photo from the driver's seat.
The pair started dating in 2004 before tying the knot in 2008 after same-sex marriage ban was overturned in California. Since the coronavirus lockdown was announced, they have been quarantining in their Santa Barbara home with Ellen shooting her talk show from the comfort of her mansion, like many other talk show hosts.
However, her move to shoot from her home has reportedly not gone down well with her crew who were believed to be 'furious' given poor communication regarding their pay. The main stage crew of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ consists of around 30 people and reportedly they have received “no communication” about issues like pay and working hours for over a month, a source said in April.
The source also revealed that the crew was furious after knowing that Ellen has hired a non-union tech company to help her broadcast daily from her home. Two insiders at the show said that "higher-ups in production would occasionally answer phone calls but reveal little" regarding their status.
Reports also claimed that her crew members would have to face a 60 percent reduction in pay even though the show continues to air amid the pandemic. The news drew a lot of criticism for Ellen. Social media, in fact, went on to call her “very nasty” and “a garbage human being” for not taking care of her employees.
"Your staff needs to be paid, they have families and payments. In the real world, not everyone has millions of dollars made off the backs of others! Shame on you!" one user wrote. "Ellen likes to play this happy/helpful dancing and caring woke lady on TV, but in reality, she's screwing over her crew when they need her most. She's been rumored to be very nasty, sounds like those rumors were true," another commented.
