Elle Fanning faints at Cannes Film Festival because her Prada prom dress was too tight
Actress Elle Fanning has revealed that she fainted during the Cannes Film Festival on Monday, May 20, because her Prada gown, which featured a built-in corset, was too tight. "Oops, had a fainting spell tonight in my 1950’s Prada prom dress but it’s all good!!", Fanning captioned a picture of herself giving a thumbs-up after the spell.
The 21-year-old further added the hashtags #dresstootight and #timeofthemonth to the Instagram post. The actress reportedly attended the Chopard Trophee event at the French film festival on Monday, May 20, night wearing the vintage ballgown.
Variety reported that Elle fell from her chair when festival director Thierry Fremaux was introducing actor Francois Civil onstage. The ceremony was briefly paused because of the incident and actor Colin Firth, who was seated nearby, jumped in to help the actress.
The actress' elder sister Dakota Fanning, meanwhile, was seated next to Elle and helped her up before security whisked the two actresses away. On Tuesday, May 21, Elle was photographed waving to paparazzi outside Hôtel Martinez. However, the Fanning clan is no stranger to squeezing into a corset and feeling woozy.
According to reports, last year Dakota spoke about the physical toll of the garment while filming her TV show 'The Alienist', revealing that she fainted during her first fitting of the period costumes. "I would have hours-long fittings and I hate to try on clothes, and I would just stand there," she said. "They put the corset on, and yeah, I was like, 'I'm going down. I'm going down!' I had to sit."
