Ed Sheeran has created yet another history as he continues to attract hundreds of thousands of fans during the Mathematics Tour. The Grammy-winning artist did two shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on June 10, and June 11, with attendance touching 173,390 at the venue. Thanks to this massive number of fans, the money generated from ticket sales is estimated to be around $18 million. "Played my biggest ever USA show today and broke the ticket record at MetLife," wrote Sheeran, 32, on Instagram earlier this week and posted an aerial video from the packed concert.

After the performance, the stadium flashed a message on screens, "Congratulations Ed Sheeran," the venue's all-time attendance record with 89,106 people at a single concert.” In his post, the ‘Perfect’ singer further said, "I really don’t take this for granted, my dad told me if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere. "And today was really reminiscing about playing my first show at mercury lounge in 2012 to 130 people." He further added, "It feels like a dream today. I love you all."

'Beers on me'

As per the representatives of the MetLife Stadium, the single-show attendance record was earlier held by U2, with the venue filling with 88,491 fans on the band's 360° Tour back in 2011. In his tour, Sheeran also made a few unscheduled stops, one being at Atlanta's SweetWater Brewing Company, "So I’m in Atlanta and I've been told that there are some breweries that are good in Atlanta so I'm gonna go to this brewery, serve some beers, play a gig, and then buy everyone in the beer garden drinks. Beers on me," he said in an Instagram video. SweetWater later shared photos of Sheeran hanging out at the brewery, and wrote, "We couldn't think of a better way to get the holiday weekend started than with some hops and harmonies with Ed!"

'I’m a super fan'

His close buddy, actor Chris Hemsworth was also present in MetLife Stadium and congratulated the 'Photograph' singer, "Saw Ed Sheeran for the 3rd time this year. Some say I’m a super fan, others say I’m a borderline stalker... mostly Ed says that actually, but hey I’m just a really supportive mate. Congrats on breaking stadium records once again, champ! @edsheeran," reports People.
