Who doesn't remember Geoffrey Scott for his role in ‘Dynasty’ from 1982 to 1984 as Mark Jennings? The actor gained much prominence as the first husband of Krystle Carrington (played by series star Linda Evans). In a piece of shocking news on March 2, 2021, the actor's death was announced. He was 79.

Confirming the news, Scott's wife Cheri Catherine Scott said he died of Parkinson's disease on February 23 — just after midnight on the day after his birthday — in Broomfield, Colorado.

Not just his ‘Dynasty’ role, the actor was also lauded for being featured as one of the Old Spice and Marlboro men. Through the course of his career, he starred in over 100 commercials such as the 'Walk a Mile for a Camel' campaign shot at the Taj Mahal and a Maxwell House Coffee ad alongside Margaret Hamilton.

Who was Geoffrey Scott?

Born on February 22, 1942, Geoffrey Scott grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Interestingly, on the same street lived John Wayne and Clark Gable, and Scott often jumped into Gable's pool uninvited. His father, Reed, worked as a manager at Lockheed producing planes, and his mother, Jayne, was a housewife.

Scott spent his early years with his brother Don, who went on to become a lawyer at Universal. Soon after, Scott was signed by legendary agent Dick Clayton — famous for discovering the talent of Jane Fonda, James Dean and Burt Reynolds.

Once he stepped into tinsel town, Scott played a US marshal fighting aliens in 1880s Wyoming on ‘The Secret Empire’ portion of 1979 NBC series ‘Cliffhangers!’; starred alongside Jerry Reed on CBS series ‘Concrete Cowboys’ and on HBO sitcom ‘1st & Ten’.

He grabbed much attention with his role as Sky Rumson on ABC's ‘Dark Shadows’ in 1970, Jeffrey Jordan on CBS' ‘Where the Heart Is’ in 1972, David McAllister on ABC's ‘General Hospital’ in 1989 and Billy Lewis on CBS' ‘Guiding Light’ in 1994.

Who are his three wives?

Geoffrey Scott's love life was also one of the major highlights. The actor married his high school sweetheart Tanya Thompson in 1960 and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Shannon. The two called it quits after two years in 1962.

Scott then got hitched to Carol Englehart in 1975 and the pair divorced after 13 years in 1988. That same year, his legs were crushed in a serious accident after he was struck by a car while cycling. With great determination, he went on to make a full recovery.

Scott's third marriage was to Cheri Catherine Scott in 1993 and the couple gave birth to two sons, Christopher and Matthew. After 45 stellar years in the industry, Scott retired and moved to Louisville, Colorado, with his wife, Catherine. Once there, he pursued skiing, his lifelong passion. Before that, he had lived in the Boulder area for the past 10 years.
