Dwayne Johnson pays touching tribute to Paul Walker on what would have been his 46th birthday: 'I never post about my friend'
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson on Thursday shared an emotional tribute to his late friend and co-star Paul Walker on what would have been the actor's 46th birthday. Walker died in 2013, just two months after celebrating his 40th birthday. Dwayne's Instagram post began with: "I never post about my friend. Personal thing, but I prefer to keep our memories and bond private and quiet."
But "something about today compelled me as a moving reminder of just how fragile life is for all of us." He also spoke about how their friendship was bonded over their daughters, Meadow and Simone, and how proud they were of being fathers.
"And recently, I got a scare when I almost lost another friend on the road," he added, referring to comedian Kevin Hart's recent accident. Hart has starred in around three movies with Dwayne and is currently in an in-patient rehab where he is recovering from a car crash he was in around two weeks ago. As reported by TMZ, he had suffered from three spinal fractures which resulted in him having back surgery.
Dwayne concluded his message writing, "We never know what’s around the corner, so we gotta live as greatly as we can in the honor of our loved ones and ancestors who are no longer with us. Manuia le aso fanau, my friend. #livegreatly #pw." The Rock accompanied the message with a picture of the two posing on the red carpet event for Fast Five in 2011. Dwayne and Paul also starred in the next two parts of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise together - 'Fast & Furious 6' and 'Furious 7'.
Walker's daughter, Meadow, too took tosocial media to share an adorable picture of her hugging her father on his birthday. She captioned the image, "happy birthday to the loveliest soul I’ll ever know."
Paul was being driven by his friend Roger Rodas in his own Porsche at around 80-93 miles an hour when they met with an accident in Santa Clarita, California. The car hit two trees and also struck a lamppost killing both the men.
