Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson just found out he has secret daughter aged 45, confesses affair after DNA test
Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson and his children have recently revealed that the deeply religious patriarch has an adult daughter from a past affair. Phil who has been married to Kay Roberston since 1966 and are parents to four adult sons - Jep Robertson, 42, Willie Robertson, 48, Jase Robertson, 50, and Alan Robertson, 55, only found out about his secret daughter a few months ago.
Phil and his four sons shared during the ‘Unashamed’ podcast on Thursday, May 28, that the family got to know about another member of the family after they received a letter from a woman named Phyliss who was 45. The woman reportedly underwent DNA testing and then reached out to Phil’s children.
"So basically, it was from a woman who said that by a DNA search, she thinks that dad might be her dad," said Alan aka Al, adding he initially “dismissed” the claim because the woman's birthday was after the time Phil had become a Christian in the 1970s. Phil had previously admitted that he used to frequently enter into casual sexual relationships with women before he became a Christian. However, now it seems his secret daughter was conceived just before he devoted himself to the church.
"Well once we get into that and start looking at it a little more deeply, I'm like, 'Oh woah, woah... there might be something to this,'" Al said, who added he did not want to show Phyliss’ letter to his father right away in case it was false. “We both concluded, this is not one of those frivolous things we've got," added Jase, who also received a letter from Phyliss. "We had to pursue it," Al agreed.
"I started thinking, there's a 45-year-old woman out there who doesn't know who her dad is, and she's looking. And I thought, even if it's not dad, she needs to know it's not dad,” Al said during the podcast. He added that he told his parents about the letter and eventually, Phil agreed to take a DNA test, which ended up being a "99.9 percent match."
After getting the confirmation, the 74-year-old said "bring her on down" so they could meet. "We know that in all things — in all things — even sin, God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose," Phil said, referring to Romans 8:28 from the Bible.
According to reports, the family has already met Phyliss and their podcast audience would get to meet her soon as well. "It's a pretty cool explanation of redemption, reconciliation, love. As it turns out, 45 years, you have a daughter that you don't know about, and she has a father she doesn't know about. 45 years that doesn't sound like very long but you say, that's a while. So finally, after all those years, we come together,” Phil said.
While the youngest son of the Robertson patriarch said he always wanted to have a sister. “It was super awesome, I was so excited. It was like a dream come true,” Jep added.
