Dream Street singer Chris Trousdale dies of coronavirus at 34, heartbroken fans say 'heaven got another angel'
Chris Trousdale, the young singer who was best known for being a part of the boy band Dream Street at the turn of the millennium, died on June 2. He was just 34 years old. He was a part of the popular band along with singers such as Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger and Frankie Galasso, during its short-lived reign from 1999 to 2002. His manager Amanda Stephan confirmed the news, saying, "It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of Chris Trousdale on June, 2, 2020, from an undisclosed illness. He was a light to so many and will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and fans all over the world." She also added, "Although it felt like he belonged to us all, the family is requesting that you respect their privacy at this time of grieving. Should you wish to make a donation in his honor, please give to ASPCA."
Although the cause of death was not confirmed by his manager, it is understood that the singer died due to coronavirus complications. His former boy bandmate, the multi-platinum selling singer Jesse McCartney, recently posted a heartfelt tribute to Trousdale, saying, "It pains me to say that an old friend, Chris Trousdale, from my early days in the music industry has passed away due to complications from COVID-19." He had posted a picture of the singer on his Instagram along with a lengthy eulogy. "Chris had an explosively charming personality with boundless amounts of talent. Together we made up two of the five members of a boyband called Dream Street. We were young kids with budding talent who shared an overwhelming love for music and performing. Chris, in my opinion, was the most popular among us, who had a way of drawing every eye to what he was doing on stage. As an incredibly trained dancer, he would pick up an entire dance number in a matter of minutes; something that would take the rest of us days. I truly envied him as a performer."
McCartney also added, "We were a part of something people never get to experience in an entire lifetime at the tender ages of 12 and 14. Although we were a band for only 3 years, at that age, it felt like a lifetime and we built a real brotherhood. In later years, we would grow apart as our lives would take different turns, but I would often reflect on our early days together and think about how exciting it all was. My deepest sympathies go out to his mother whom I know cherished him dearly. RIP Chris. I’ll never forget your smile. #DreamStreet #ChrisTrousdale."
Fans were understandably shaken by the news. One fan said, "Love you Chris. Hope you are showing the angels some fierce choreography! I will miss you." Another follower said, "My heart is broken... I was OBSESSED with Dreamstreet as a kid..... #dreamon RIP Chris..." Another fan posted, "That’s shocking. RIP Chris. You will be missed." Another admirer said, "This hurts my heart. Dream street was the very first cassette tape I bought myself as a kid. Rest In Peace Chris." One heartbroken fan said, "So many great memories meeting Chris and the rest of Dreamstreet. I especially loved hanging out backstage at one of their shows and Chris giving me a huge hug and kiss on the cheek as we were walking out. It was amazing and my sister and I will cherish those memories. Rest easy, Chris."
