Drake slammed for calling his child's mother a 'fluke' in new song: 'He needs to be slapped'

The offensive lyrics were in reference to former adult movie star Sophie Brussaux, with whom the rapper shares 2-year-old son Adonis

Drake surprised his fans when he released two new songs on Saturday — 'When to Say When' and 'Chicago Freestyle'. While most are thoroughly enjoying the surprise release, some have taken offense to the lyrics in 'When to Say When'. In particular, they have an issue with a line that refers to Drake's baby mama as a 'fluke'.

On the track, Drake raps "Baby mama fluke, but I love her for who she is", in reference to former adult movie star Sophie Brussaux, with whom the rapper shares 2-year-old son Adonis.

One Twitter user highlighted what the issue with this lyric was and wrote, "Drake is rude as hell. You slept with one (of many) women with no condom, she gets pregnant, has the baby, keeps it a secret for you, takes the embarrassment when Pusha revealed it, has never said anything bad about you... and she's a fluke?! He needs to be slapped!"

Responses to this tweet were mixed, but some were definitely not having it. One user tweeted, "You don't know what fluke means huh? Also she never kept it a secret, it was known way before Pusha said it cause she was leaking information to those cheap blogs."

Others highlighted that in referring to Brussaux as a 'fluke', he was inadvertently also referring to his son Adonis as a fluke.

One user tweeted, "His bozo ass doesn’t even realize talking about his child's mother in that way is talking about the child too. Smh," while another added "Especially when she hasn’t come out and said anything bad about him, and really plays her role behind the scenes. I’m like she’s raising your child full-time, sir."

Others, however, saw nothing wrong with the rap.

One user tweeted, "What’s rude about it?" and attached an image of the definition of the word fluke that reads 'something, usually a good thing, that has happened as a result of chance instead of skill or planning'.

Another user tweeted, "Babymama fluke only means he got her pregnant on accident... a fluke. Idk how you got all that extra nonsense out of what he said lol." Many commented that while the word can have positive connotations, it can also be used negatively, and added that the rest of Drake's lyrics on 'When to Say When' imply it's the latter.

One user tweeted, "His surrounding comments prove he wasn't using it in the 'usually good' way; your image literally proves it can be something bad, too — which it obviously was in context."
