Drake and Kanye West are coming together for a benefit concert in December aimed to free an individual named Larry Hoover who has been imprisoned since 1993. The two coming together left the social media bewildered as many slammed Drake for deciding to hit the stage only a few weeks after the unfortunate Astroworld tragedy.

Drizzy and Yeezy ended their long-standing beef on November 16 as the rap icons were spotted partying at Drake’s Toronto mansion. Dave Chappelle too marked his attendance at the event. The ‘God’s Plan’ hitmaker got brutally slammed on Twitter as many claimed that ending his beef with Kanye was a strategic move and the latest concert announcement was meant to divert the attention from Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival disaster.

Drake slammed for co-headlining concert with Kanye

Drake will be sharing the stage with Kanye West on December 9 for Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Drake’s last public performance was when he surprised the fans at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival on November 5. The crowd surge at the event resulted in the deaths of 10 concertgoers and also left hundreds of others injured.

Shedding light on the same, a source had spilled the beans to TMZ that Drake was still 'reeling from what happened at Astroworld'. The hip-hop heavyweight even decided to pull his song ‘Splash Brothers’ from fellow rapper French Montana's new album ‘They Got Amnesia’ post the festival disaster. Drake, who landed on the Astroworld stage as a guest performer, was brutally dragged on Twitter back then. Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña during a news conference had revealed that close to 50,000 people attended the music festival and several people were trampled in the ensuing chaos of the surge.

‘Drake is dismissing Astroworld event to build his bridge with Kanye’

Taking to Twitter, one user said, “Drake and Kanye having a free concert is nuts, it’s gone be Astroworld all over again.”  On similar lines, one user said, “Drake agreeing to perform live with Kanye is weird considering Astroworld.” Another user shared, “Drake got cool with Kanye to take attention off his Astroworld involvement.”  The next one stated, “Drake and Kanye only friends now bc drake is gonna need some help with those Astroworld lawsuits.”

Meanwhile, one said, “Drake and Kanye are besties now?! The timing couldn’t be more suspect #Astroworld”. Another stated, “I think if anything is weird, it’s that that these announcements like who Kim is dating and drake and Kanye performing together are all convenient… distractions from the 2 Billion dollar Astroworld lawsuit.” Echoing similar sentiments, one said, “Meanwhile drake reconciling with Kanye to distract from Astroworld and drake was on stage when people were dying. Where is your outrage there? Where are your tweets there?” And, another concluded, “Drake is avoiding and dismissing the Astroworld event by build his bridge w Kanye . It’s a strategy.”
