Dr Dawn Hughes under fire from Johnny Depp fans after she supported Amber Heard's claims of abuse
Clinical psychologist Dr Dawn Hughes' WebMD page was flooded with harsh feedback after her testimony supporting Amber Heard's claims of domestic violence while married to Johnny Depp. Dr Hughes is a forensic psychologist who has been certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in New York City. Hughes was called as the first defense witness for Heard in the ongoing defamation lawsuit filed by Depp during the trial in Fairfax.
The psychiatrist testified on May 3 that she had previously diagnosed the 'Aquaman' actress with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to her examination, Heard had definitely endured intimate partner violence during her marriage to Depp.

From the bizarre to outright BS: How Johnny Depp fans are skewing the 'FACTS'
Following this, an online WebMD profile displaying Dr Hughes' name and professional data was swamped with hostile comments while she was on the stand testifying in favor of Heard. Many commentators attacked Dr Hughes for being sexist and immoral, according to NBC News, because she looked to be prejudiced against males in domestic abuse situations. Some people even took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the bias. An individual wrote, "What Dawn M. Hughes, Ph.D is doing right now, speaking so factually, BASED ON HEARSAY from the lying, abusive Amber Heard, will set back ACTUAL victims of DV & SA so far. I am sooo ANGRY at this woman's BS. Paid professional bias. Utterly Sickening. #JusticeForJohnnyDepp #MenToo".

Depp v Heard
However, as of May 10, all of the evaluations and comments on the doctor's page were removed. On May 3, after Johnny Depp's legal team had finished presenting their case. Dr Hughes was called as the first witness to testify in Amber Heard's favor.
Dr Dawn Hughes claimed that her diagnosis of Heard backed up her accusations that she was subjected to emotional and physical violence during her marriage. She came to her conclusions based on various variables, according to her, that represent the complexity of Heard's relationship with Depp. Depp's forceful abuse, such as seeking to limit Heard's wardrobe or work options, was a primary issue.
I can testify that physical and psychological aggressive acts of Violenc.. were Perpetrated upon him! #JohnnyDepp

Due to Judge Penny Azcarate's absence, the trial for Johnny Depp's defamation action against his ex-wife Amber Heard has been put on hold. On May 16, the trial is set to resume. The trial, which began on April 11 and is expected to end on May 27, will be live-streamed throughout the proceedings.
Depp is seeking $50 million in damages from Amber Heard in connection with an op-ed piece she penned for The Washington Post in 2018, in which she claimed she had become a "public figure representing domestic abuse." Despite the fact that Depp was not named in the piece, his lawyers argue it relates to the allegations she made against him during their 2016 divorce. In return, Heard is suing Depp for $100 million.
