Dr Anthony Fauci wants Brad Pitt to play him on 'Saturday Night Live', and the resemblance is uncanny!

When Dr Anthony Fauci was asked who should play him on the long-running sketch-comedy show, 'Saturday Night Live', he said it should be Brad Pitt. Dr Fauci was taking part in a serious discussion on Friday's CNN's 'New Day' about the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Fauci had warned that the warm weather might not slow the spread of the disease and was discussing the plan of action to tackle the pandemic when he was asked a rather unexpected question about who should play him in 'SNL'. The doctor first consciously said he hoped he was not a character on the show. But when asked again, he was ready with an option. "Oh Brad Pitt, of course," he laughed

Pitt is surely in demand. With the popularity of Netflix's 'Tiger King' soaring, Joe Exotic had expressed interest in the Academy Award-winning star to play him in a biopic of his life. Host Alisyn Camerota noted that Ben Stiller is also a name that has been floating around for a possible 'SNL' Fauci.

Dr Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the US and is contributing to the country's fight against coronavirus. One of the lead members of the Trump Administration's White House Coronavirus Task Force, Dr Fauci delivers information about the pandemic during White House press conferences.

Viewers, who only ever see Dr Fauci in a stern, composed, matter-of-fact demeanour, were pleased to see himself let loose and expressed their gratitude.

"It’s nice to see Dr Fauci smile & laugh. I can’t imagine the pressure he must feel. He has the weight of the pandemic on his shoulders & is dealing with a president who undermines advice from the experts. Thank you, Dr Fauci for everything you’re doing," tweeted a viewer. "He is human, he deserves some comic relief and a medal in a while," said another.

Several members of the Trump administration, including the president himself and Sean Spicer, have been portrayed in  'SNL'. Alec Baldwin plays the role of Trump and Kate McKinnon plays Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

With the news that 'Saturday Night Live' will return to NBC for a special remote episode, it could be possible that the sketch comedy writes a segment on him. The late-night sketch comedy will be back with its special remote episode set to air April 11 at 11:30 pm ET/PT.

'SNL', which is usually recorded in New York City, was suspended mid-production amid the pandemic after it became the epicenter of the country's outbreak. Moreover, the show's longtime producer Hall Willner, who had worked on the sketch comedy show since 1980, passed away due to complications from coronavirus.

The series will be producing new material while practising social distancing. As of now, it is unclear if the show is to return on a regular weekly basis or if it will be a standalone episode.
