Who is Gong Myung? NCT star Doyoung follows brother's footsteps to make debut in ‘The Curious Stalker’
South Korean singer Doyoung, who is better known as a member of K-pop band NCT, is 24 years old and he has already carved a niche for himself but looks like he ain’t settling for less as the young lad is exploring new shores in the field of acting. Yes, Doyoung is all set to walk in his brother Gong Myung’s footsteps, who is a popular actor in South Korea.
An exclusive report by SPOTV revealed that Doyoung is all set for his acting debut with a lead role in an upcoming MBC drama called ‘The Curious Stalker.’ According to Koreaboo, ‘The Curious Stalker’ is a fantasy drama based on healing and growth in a cafe setting, where Doyoung would portray the lead role of an 18-year-old high school student. The drama would be the third season of MBC’s late-night cafe series.
The news of Doyoung’s acting debut made its way to Twitter which got all the fans excited. One user tweeted, “I’m so happy and excited for Doyoung as someone who has been a fan since the SMROOKIES days, Doyoung never fails to surprise me with his growth as an idol and as a person. Really looking forward to seeing him challenge a new field & see actor Doyoung in action.” Another fan stated, “‘This is Doyoung’s first time acting. Expectations have been raised on what image Doyoung, who has displayed outstanding singing and splendid performances on stage whilst also being active as a music show MC and in variety shows, will show as an actor.” Another added, “ahh but honestly i'm sososo proud of doyoung for challenging himself in so many ways this year we can really see how much he's grown as an artist and in how confident he's become~ wishing him all the success!!”

Doyoung is a younger brother of actor Gong Myung, who enjoys quite a huge fan base in South Korea. Gong Myung is 26 years old and is a part of the group called Surprise stylized as 5urprise. The group is the first-ever South Korean squad of all actors consisting Yoo Il, Seo Kang-joon, Gong Myung, Kang Tae-oh and Lee Tae-hwan. Myung first debuted with the group itself in 2013 under Fantiago Entertainment.
Myung then showed his acting abilities in web dramas like ‘After School: Lucky or Not in 2013 and ‘After School: Lucky or Not 2' in 2014. According to the website KProfiles, his other notable work in the dramas include ‘Drinking Solo’ in 2016, ‘Entertainer’ in 2016, ‘Beautiful You’ from 2015 to 2016, ‘Hwajung’ in 2015, ‘Bride of the Water God’ in 2017’ and ‘Revolutionary Love’ in 2017. Apart from acting in dramas, Myung also showed his acting skills in movies like ‘Su saek’ in 2016, ‘Futureless Things' in 2014, ‘A Girl At My Door’ in 2014, ‘If You Were Me 6’ in 2013 and ‘Extreme Job’ in 2019. When it comes to his personal interests, Myung has also learned Taekwondo and is also an avid movie buff, as reported by the same website.
It would be interesting to see if someday Doyoung and Gong Myung get to share the space on a big screen.
