Karen and Deon Derrico are blessed with a large family. After having 11 children, they are eagerly waiting for the birth of triplets that are due in a couple of months. However, Karen and Deon fear that history might repeat itself as they opened up about the miscarriage they had suffered.

Karen revealed that she lost one of her triplets when she gave birth when she was 28 weeks into pregnancy. While she was happy to have her other two sons with her, Karen admitted that the loss of a child had hit the family hard emotionally. Deon weighed in the matter and confessed that they were not prepared to face a situation where they would lose a child.

Recalling what had happened, Deon revealed that the doctors were unable to insert an oxygen pipe into their son, Carter, and they knew it then that he would not survive. They have not moved on from the pain of losing a child. Deon further added that they were now prepared to welcome triplets and had bought clothes for all of them.

He admitted that not using one set of pairs broke their heart and reminded them of the loss they suffered. Now that they are expecting triplets again, Karen and Deon are concerned about the health of their babies. Karen was curious to know if there was anything she could do differently to avoid history from repeating, but the doctor informed her that the only right thing to do was for her to take rest.

Deon revealed that Karen had a thin cervix that increased the chances of having a premature birth. To avoid that, the doctor wanted Karen to be on complete bed rest. However, having 11 children to take care of, Karen feared that it may not be possible. Their worst fears seemed to be realized when Karen suffered immense pain one night.

After running to the hospital, the pair made the decision of moving Karen into a hospital for two months, until the birth of the babies. Karen admitted that being in the house would not be a good idea because even though she would still be surrounded by everyone she might help out.

To avoid that situation, she decided to take the big step. While it was a hard decision to make, Karen admitted that it was the right thing to do. Will she be able to handle the separation?

'Doubling Down With the Derricos' airs on Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
