People across the United States have been mourning the loss and celebrating the life, of former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsberg. The 87-year-old legal luminary, who passed away earlier today, was only the second-ever justice of the US Supreme Court. A harbinger of progressive reforms, Ginsburg was seen as a force of change throughout her legal career.

Back in 2016, when Trump was declared the Republican presidential nominee, Ginsburg publicly denounced the former reality TV star and called him a 'faker' (which she later apologized for). Today, when Trump is President, his reaction to the passing of Ginsburg was something both his supporters and detractors were looking forward to seeing. Just then, a video of Trump reacting to the news of Ginsburg's death was retweeted by his official Twitter account. The tweet, sent out by Team Trump, read, "President Donald Trump on the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: "She led an amazing life...She was an amazing woman, whether you agreed or not...I am sad to hear that."

The thing that caught people's attention about the tweet was the song 'Tiny Dancer' by Elton John playing in the background. One Twitter user, on noticing the song, commented, "The timing of “Tiny Dancer” playing in the background, from the rally, is priceless!" while another said, "Wow, that song came on at a pivotal moment in this...coincidence?!" Another user explained why "Tiny Dancer" was playing and said, "The song was playing from Trump’s rally tonight as he was leaving."

There were others who didn't believe the video was a genuine reaction calling the entire act, "Tiny Dancer" playing and all, entirely scripted. A Trump detractor said, "'Tiny Dancer' clip is staged... perfect camera angle, perfect song, perfect optics...The giveaway is his expression on the initial "what?" and his verbalizing of "this is the first time I'm hearing this". Obvious lie if you're looking. His supporters aren't, however," while another, calling the whole episode a facade, added, "This is a facade. I'm not buying it. More gaslighting. First, where the hell did the 'Tiny Dancer' music come from? And the sudden choreographed and scripted appearance of concern? (Sorry but Trump is a terrible actor.) Poor Elton John must be violently puking right now..."

There were others who spoke about the significance of the moment with being skeptical. One Twitter user said, "Right & Left coming together tonight to agree that 'Tiny Dancer' playing during this moment was pretty awesome. Five seconds of unity," while another added, "As a history buff, this clip is incredible. The President learning of the death of a Justice via the media with a live reaction. Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" kicking in as Trump speaks makes it that much more surreal. There is a fight ahead, but let's admire living history."

History Behind 'Tiny Dancer'

You've heard this iconic track on 'Friends', 'The Office', and in the movie 'Almost Famous'. Composed and performed by Elton John with lyrics by Bernie Taupin, 'Tiny Dancer' appears on the album 'Madman Across the Water' released in 1972. The song, which has been certified three-times platinum in the US, was inspired by Taupin’s first visit to the US in 1970. 'Tiny Dancer' captures the spirit of Californian women and, according to Taupin himself, is about his ex-wife Maxine Feibelman.

Ranked 397 on the 2010 list of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, 'Tiny Dancer' received an official music video in 2017. The music video, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival, was filmed in Los Angeles and features various residents driving around the city including shock-rocker Marilyn Manson.
