With the war in Ukraine well into its third week, US President Joe Biden announced he would meet with NATO allies in Brussels in late March 2022. However, not everyone was happy with that decision, like Donald Trump Jr. The former President's son took to Twitter to say the US should send his father instead, an idea that was widely mocked within minutes of being posted. As of March 16, "send Trump" has been trending on Twitter with users providing ideas on where Trump should go instead.

Biden's planned trip to Europe comes hot on the heels of a visit by Vice President Kamala Harris to Poland and Romania. The visit went largely without controversy, barring Harris' giggling during a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda. However, it appears that the trip has not done enough to shore up NATO allies' fears, as Russia begins striking at targets close to the Polish border.

On March 24, NATO will meet in Belgium to discuss "further strengthening NATO’s deterrence & defense." It will be Biden's first trip to Europe since the Russian invasion began, but not his first time interacting with the bloc. Ever since late December 2021, Biden has been closely working with European leaders on countering Russia, leading to a swift imposition of sanctions once the invasion began.

Donald Trump Jr attempts to mock Biden

Speaking about Biden's planned trip, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki noted the President is a "big believer in face-to-face diplomacy", and was traveling to discuss "where we are at this point." The President will also "join a scheduled European Council summit" Psaki said, in a bid to further find ways to squeeze Russia. She then made a subtle dig at Trump, saying, "We've been incredibly aligned to date -- that doesn't happen by accident."

There's also a discussion on Biden making a stop in Poland but has yet to be confirmed. Right now, the White House is working on a series of possible announcements the President can make with European allies after their meeting. The news was largely welcomed by European allies, but in the US, not everyone felt positive about it. "Sending Biden to Europe for “High Stakes” NATO talks will only embolden our enemies further. If you want to get something done right send Trump," Trump Jr tweeted on March 16.

'I wouldn’t send Trump to negotiate my sandwich order'

It didn't take long for social media to begin mocking the suggestion. "Send Trump to the NATO meeting. Realistically, what’s he gonna do? Sue them?" one user asked. Another trolled, "Why do we get punished for a lifetime of parental neglect?" One user mocked, "I wouldn’t send trump to negotiate my sandwich order." A fourth joked, "Send Trump to negotiate? I wouldn’t send Trump to run the bath."

Others offered some suggestions on where to send the former President. "The only time you send Trump in to do something is when you want to morally and financially bankrupt a company," one user tweeted. Another joked, "Send Trump to Russian gulag in Siberia where he belongs!" Other suggestions inclided, "Send trump to Moscow. Leave him there," and "Send Trump to space."

"Send Trump straight to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 rubles," one person jokingly tweeted. Another commented, "Send Trump to jail or a mental hospital. There is a case for both to be made." Another said, "Only place we should send Trump on the world stage would be the Hague for trial."
