On September 21, Donald Trump Jr appeared on a video shared by the official Trump Campaign Twitter account. The video said, “The Radical Left is laying the groundwork to steal the 2020 Election from our president. We need you to join ARMY FOR TRUMP’s election security operation!”

In the video, Trump Jr. said that the “radical left” was planting stories about how President Donald Trump would have a landslide lead on election night, but would ultimately lose the battle. He added that the plan of the “radical left” was to add millions of fraudulent ballots to overturn the election. The motive of this alarmist video, of course, was to enlist more and more people for “Army For Trump” - to assist “Team Trump” and grassroots operations across the country on Election Day 2020.

“Our Election Day Team primarily focuses on Getting Out the Vote (GOTV) to ensure any voters who did not vote early vote on election day. Depending on the state, volunteers may be involved in other Election Day activities such as precinct coverage,” says the Army For Trump website.

While the video itself is nothing different from several others coming out of the campaign, many began mocking it, claiming Trump Jr. looked inebriated. “THESE drugs are no good. Try something organic, Don, Jr.” wrote a Twitter user. Another noted, “What in the hell is wrong with this guy.... looks like he just woke up from a crazy bachelor party weekend. I truly feel sorry for you if you actually believe this s*** #GriftersGonnaGrift.” Yet another Twitter user observed, “LMAO they used the video where he's high as a kite. jesus.”

One Twitter user said, “If I were you, @MrsVanessaTrump, I would consider making @DonaldJTrumpJr be drug tested before visitation with your young children. He looks like he needs help!” Another said, responding to a tweet from Trump Jr., “I’m sure there are good drug rehab programs in rich guy prison. You might want to check those out, junior.” Another Twitter user wrote. “Go get some help for your drug addiction., @DonaldJTrumpJr. You looked pathetic as s***.”

This is not the first time many on the internet have suggested that Trump Jr. may be under the influence of narcotics. When Donald Trump Jr. took the stage on the first night of the Republican National Convention on August 24 to praise his father as "the man who represents a bright and beautiful future for all", his name along with the word "cocaine" started trending on Twitter. People shared reactions and memes, pointing out that he looked worn out, and that his eyes drooped during his speech, suggesting drug use.

As the memes and jokes attained critical mass, Trump Jr. even responded to them. He quote-tweeted one of the memes which showed Kermit the Frog snorting white powder. The meme in question was posted by a Twitter user named 'Secular Talk' with the caption, "Trump Jr Backstage #RNC2020". Trump Jr. retweeted the meme, saying, "You must have me confused with Hunter Biden," without adding any context.
