Trump says he regrets what he tweets and may never tweet if re-elected, Internet: 'We regret electing him'
POTUS Donald Trump revealed that he frequently regrets what he posts on Twitter. He also said that he may never tweet again should he be re-elected in November. During an interview with Dave Portnoy on Thursday, July 23, Trump said he regularly feels unsure of his tweets. "In the old days before this, you'd write a letter, and you'd say, 'This letter is really good'," Trump said. "You'd put it in your desk and go back tomorrow and go 'Oh I'm glad I didn't send it' right? But we don't do that with Twitter."
"We put it out instantaneously, we feel great, and then you start getting phone calls: 'Did you really say that?' You know what I find? It's not the tweets, it's the retweets that get you in trouble," he continued. He further added that he loved the social media platform once a little too much but is not sure anymore whether he should keep using it after the election. Trump also admitted that he does often retweet without verifying the source. “I say, 'What's wrong with that?”
Trump shared, "I don't know if I'll ever use it again but it certainly was good." During the interview, he added how he had admitted that his "best day" was before he had announced his presidential bid. "The best day in my life in terms of business and life and everything was the day before I announced I was running for president. Everything was good ... Now I’m really glad I did but I was treated very unfairly," he shared. Trump said that he had been "devastated" when he won as President of the USA as he "had a great life." He also recalled how after announcing his presidential bid when he was publicly heckled as he said he had "never been booed before".
Social media users did not seem to have much sympathy for Trump and took to the comments section to let it be known. One such user wrote, "I regret them too. Actually, I regret everything about Trump. He's torn my country apart, pitted family & friends against one another, made people of color afraid to be seen or heard...I could go on and on." Another user shared, "The problem is he keeps doing it! We regret ever electing him so we won't do it again. He can't seem to learn that lesson. Don't repeat a regret, it will only result in more regret." "Nobody believes a damn word of that. The one thing we know for a fact is that he lies perpetually," yet another user shared. "This is called pretending to have a soul because the election draws near," wrote a Twitter user who echoed the same sentiments.
Recently Donald Trump's niece Mary Trump had written an explosive tell-all about him where she said her uncle's incapability to govern, especially amid a health crisis, could be traced back to his childhood experience. While speaking to CNN's Chris Cuomo on July 17, she said, "Donald is a psychologically deeply damaged man, based on his upbringing and the situation with his parents. He is not going to get better and he is without question going to get worse."
