Trump Jr trolled for claiming 'rona still found a way' as Dr Fauci tests positive for Covid-19
Dr Anthony Fauci recently tested positive for Covid-19 and Donald Trump Jr decided to take a dig at that as he tweeted, "Breaking News: Anthony Fauci has COVID. He's octuple vaccinated and quadruple masked, and yet the 'rona still found a way. SCIENCE!" However, Trump Jr's actions didn't seem to go down well with Twitter users who criticized him for being illogical.
On June 15, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced Fauci’s results via a statement, as reported by Al Jazeera. “He is currently experiencing mild symptoms," the statement said, adding the 81-year-old, who is fully vaccinated and double boosted, had not been in recent close contact with President Joe Biden, whom he serves as chief medical advisor. "Fauci will follow the Covid-19 guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and medical advice from his physician and return to the NIH when he tests negative," it further read.

While many sent him well wishes for a speedy recovery, Trum Jr showed his happiness as he contracted the virus with his tweet. But one of many responded by saying, "No one ever said vaccines would stop you from getting covid- they said it would stop you from getting killed."

Social media came in support of Fauci. A user wrote, "The reason you get vaccinated is because it greatly reduces your chances of being hospitalized or having severe symptoms. It doesn't prevent you from getting it. I don't know how you don't understand this yet." One more replied, "AND HE'S STILL ALIVE AND NOT IN THE HOSPITAL, NEVER SAID IT STOPPED YOU FROM GETTING IT, THAT'S ONE OF THE LIES YOU CLAIMED." The thread continued with one saying, "No vaccine prevents anyone from getting infected. They train your body to fight the infection AFTER getting infected. Just like a car alarm doesn't prevent someone from breaking into your car. The alarm goes off AFTER someone breaks in or tries to break in."

Fauci's take on Covid
Dr Fauci is the latest in a long line of prominent personalities who have come down with Covid despite being fully vaccinated and taking precautions. Fauci, who has often appeared double-masked or wearing an N95, skipped the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in April because of his individual assessment of personal risk.
Earlier during an interview with Axios, Fauci said that parents should vaccinate their younger children. He said, “I sure as hell wouldn't want them to get COVID-19. I would vaccinate them in a second. Even though the chances of getting sick and seriously ill are small—why do you want to take a chance of that with your child, when you can essentially protect the child by an intervention that is proven to be both highly effective and very safe?" Fauci asked. He added that children's vaccinations "would be an important step in the right direction of controlling the COVID-19 outbreak in this country."
The current status of Covid-19
Covid infections are spreading in the US again, driven by the contagious omicron variant, after dipping below 30,000 a day in March and April, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The average number of new infections a day has held steady at over 100,000 since the end of May.
