Don Lemon trolled for making 'even Chris Cuomo look smart' after suggesting to 'blow up the entire system'

CNN anchors Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon engaged in a discussion about the current hot topic in US – the appointment of the SCOTUS. In a news clip that’s gone viral, Cuomo is seen saying, “If the Democrats were in control of the Senate right now, and Trump was president and he wanted to nominate a Justice, what do you think they would say?” Lemon answered, “I think they’d do the same thing they did in 2016.” Later in the conversation, Cuomo asked, “You think they’ll give Trump a Justice after what happened to Merrick Garland?” to which Lemon answered in affirmative. Lemon went on to explain that it is different because Democrats did not make the promise in 2016 and it is not right to equate the two situations. Cuomo went on to say that people don’t care between either left or right until you have a group of people who are better than what they reject.

To this last argument by Cuomo, Lemon said, “We're going to have to blow up the entire system.” “I don't know about that,” Cuomo answered, and emphasized that Americans just have to vote. However, Lemon went on to say, “You know what we're going to have to do?... You're going to have to get rid of the electoral college. Because the minority in this country get to decide who our judges are and who our president is. Is that fair?” Cuomo suggested that a constitutional amendment is required for that. “And if Joe Biden wins, Democrats can stack the courts and they can do that amendment and get it passed,” Lemon answered.

Lemon’s comments did not go down well with Twitter users and they lashed out at him. Activist Jack Posobiec shared the clip and commented, “Oh man Don Lemon is making even Chris Cuomo look smart.” Another said, “Don Lemon wants to threaten us with more violence I had to figure out who he was first! Then I laughed some more.” A user shared the clip and said, “So stupid even Fredo can't believe what he's hearing. Don Lemon actually argued that if roles were reversed and Dems controlled the Senate, they would let Trump nominate his SCOTUS pick. Adding: 'We're going to have to blow up the entire system' because minority GOP have a voice.” One user commented, “Don Lemon doesn't seem to be a journalist there heh.” Another remarked, “Don Lemon immediately should re-attend a school that teaches the Constitution and the laws IRT them. I highly recommend the SMHU (Small Minded Host University)...” A user commented, “Don Lemon! No we cannot just let ( Liberal New York and California) just Pick our next President and you cannot just stack the Court system!! You have to follow the Constitution!!”

As per a BBC report, President Donald Trump has said that he will announce a replacement to Ruth Bader Ginsburg by week's end and advised the Republican-controlled Senate to confirm his Supreme Court choice before November 3. According to NBC News, Trump told reporters before going for the Ohio rally, “I would say on Friday or Saturday I’ll be announcing the pick. Five women are being looked at and vetted very carefully. Five. And we’ll make a decision – probably Saturday, but Friday or Saturday.” Talking about getting the process done before the election, he said, “I think it sends a good signal and it’s solidarity and lots of other things. And I’m just doing my constitutional obligation – I have an obligation to do this, so I would rather see it before the election.”
 
As reported by Fox News, earlier in the CNN conversation, Cuomo opined that it could be a “short-term win” for the president amid the Supreme Court battle. “Look, this is a short-term win,” Cuomo said. “If it's a win,” Lemon shot back. “I think it's a win,” Cuomo answered. “I think that if they get this judge, it's a win because if he wants people to vote for him, if he doesn't deliver a nominee and it doesn't get acted on by the Republicans, they've got trouble,” Cuomo said, as per Fox News.
