Dolly Parton saved 9-year-old’s life on sets of Netflix's ‘Christmas on the Square’ in which she plays an angel
Dolly Parton proved an angel for a child actor when she heroically saved her life by preventing her from getting hit by a car. The 74-year-old was working for a Netflix film ‘Christmas on the Square’ when nine-year-old Talia Hill was reportedly about to get hit by a vehicle on the set, but Parton “grabbed” her and “pulled” her back. Recalling the incident, Hill said as reported by The Sun, “We were on set, and I was at the hot chocolate station, and they said go back to your beginning positions. So there was a vehicle moving, and I was walking, and then somebody grabbed me and pulled me back, and I looked up and it was Dolly Parton.”
The young actress also revealed that she was in “shock” when she found out Parton saved her. Following the episode, the singer-songwriter reportedly said to Hill, "‘Well, I am an angel, you know,’ cause she plays an angel in the movie.”
Hill also explained the horror she faced and how she and her mother are forever grateful to Parton. “[Dolly] hugged me and shook me and said, ‘I saved your life. And my mom was crying, like, ‘Yes you did, Dolly Parton, yes you did,’” she added.
The name of the character that Parton plays in ‘Christmas on the Square’ is Angel. The movie also stars Christine Baranski as Regina Fuller. The official description of the film that released on the online platform on November 22 says, “A rich and nasty woman, Regina Fuller, returns to her small hometown after her father’s death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer - right before Christmas. However, after listening to stories of the local townsfolk, reconnecting with an old love, and accepting the guidance of an actual angel, Regina starts to have a change of heart. This is the story about family, love, and how a small town’s Christmas spirit can warm even the coldest of hearts."
Many have praised the movie on Twitter as well as Parton as one fan tweeted, “Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square is one of the most unintentionally hilarious, jaw-droppingly awful things I have ever seen on TV....... and I cannot wait to watch it again next Christmas! ( Hint: watch with subtitles. Makes it even "better").” A second user said, “I watched Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square tonight, which made me think of Heartstrings, which made me think of Ginny, which made me miss her to goddamn smithereens.”

Parton was recently hailed as a "savior" after she donated $1million to help fund Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine. The 74-year-old country singer donated the amount to Vanderbilt University Medical Centre in Nashville, Tennessee in April, and a part of which was used in the research for the breakthrough coronavirus vaccine. "I’m sure many, many millions of dollars from many people went into that (research fund) but I felt so proud to have been part of that little seed money that hopefully will grow into something great and help to heal this world," Parton said in a statement to the BBC, adding, "Lord knows we need it!"
