Doja Cat loses 200k Instagram followers, Noah Schnapp gains 1M after their DM row about Joseph Quinn

Doja Cat's Instagram account took a hit in terms of followers after she lashed out at Noah Schnapp for sharing their private messages with her followers.

The 26-year-old pop sensation blasted the 17-year-old 'Stranger Things' star for sharing DMs in which she asked him to set her up with his 29-year-old co-star Joseph Quinn. The 'Say So' hitmaker faced backlash for calling the move "snake s***" after some pointed out that Noah is a minor. According to social media analytics firm Social Blade, Doja lost over 200k followers on Instagram — going from 24.34M followers to 24.14M — last week, while Noah's followers' count increased by nearly a million from 24.25m to 25.17m during the same period.

Noah took to TikTok on Wednesday, July 6, to post a now-deleted video that revealed private DMs between him and Doja, where the songstress expressed a romantic interest in his 'Stranger Things' co-star Joseph, who plays 'Eddie Munson' on the show.

Doja responded to the expose on Thursday, July 7, by calling Noah out for his actions. She told her fans on Instagram not to overreact since he's "just a kid" but noted that it was "socially unaware" for the actor to share their private conversation online. However, she acknowledged that young people do "dumb s***" and "f*** up relationships with people" in her rant. "I'm just gonna say something right now, about the whole f***ing Noah Schnapp thing," she began on Instagram Live. "I think that... to be fair, let's try to be chill about it. Like Noah is a kid, but, I don't even know how old he is, but he can't be over – like there's no way he's over 21," Doja said about the actor who is only 17 years old. "But when you're that young, you make mistakes. You do dumb s**t. I'm like trying to be super fair. You do dumb s**t, you say dumb s**t, you f***ing, f**k up relationships with people. You make mistakes," she added.

Doja admitted that she has had her "share of f*** ups" and learned from her mistakes. However, she said it was "like weasel s***" for Noah to reveal their private chat to his followers. "Like you're supposed to do that so that you know you're not supposed to do that in the future. I did my share of f**k ups so that I don't f**k up again," she continued. "But the fact that Noah did that, like went and posted a private conversation between me and him is so unbelievably socially unaware and whack. That's like borderline snake s**t, that's like weasel s**t." She added, "And I'm not saying that that encapsulates his entire personality – like I don't imagine Noah that way. Maybe he is, like a whole snake. But I didn't see him that way. I made an assumption that he was gonna be chill about it and he went and shared information that I didn't feel comfortable with him sharing."

In the DMs, Doja was seen asking the actor, "Noah can u tell Joseph to hmu. wait no. does he have a gf?" He replied, "LMAOO slide into his DMs," but she said, "idk his IG or Twitter he doesn't have a DM to slide into." Noah subsequently provided Quinn's handle to her.

It's worth noting that the singer has previously complimented Joseph after a Twitter user posted a shot of the actor on the platform, writing, "Doja look how fine Joseph Quinn is." The 'Kiss Me More' hitmaker responded by saying, "It's f***ing criminal." And in May, she tweeted, "Joseph Quinn fine as s**t."
