Dog the Bounty Hunter’s family hosts Hawaii sunrise hike to remember Beth Chapman on first death anniversary
Duane 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Chapman remembered his late wife Beth Chapman along with his family in a beautiful way on her first death anniversary. The family honored Beth by hosting a sunrise hike at the Hanauma Bay Ridge trail in Hawaii on Friday, June 26. Beth died at the age of 51 in June 2019 from throat cancer.
Beth's daughter Cecily Chapman took to Instagram to share a series of photos from the event. "#ForTheLoveofBeth 1 Year sunrise Hike," she captioned the pictures. The first picture of the social media post was of a photo frame of Beth and her husband, Duane, placed on a hilltop with the view of the sun rising in the background. The second and third photo showed a bouquet of roses above the water, while the last picture was of Cecily wearing a shirt that read: "In loving memory of Beth Chapman."
This comes after Duane and Cecily announced earlier on Instagram that they will be holding a remembrance event in Beth’s honor on Friday at 5:30 pm local time. The message on their pages read: “The paddle out will begin at 5:30 pm at Waimanalo Beach. Prayer will take place on the beach and in the water. Bring your boards and flowers so we can remember Mrs. Dog the right way. Not in Hawaii. Go on a walk, hike, and take a picture. Let’s make it viral. Post a picture on all your social media accounts using the #fortheloveofbeth hashtag!!!!”
In May, Duane paid tribute to his beloved late wife on the occasion of their 14th wedding anniversary. "She said Big Daddy you’re [sic] going to be so sad when I am not here on our next anniversary. Why did she have to be so right??" the 67-year-old captioned a photo of him with Beth, whom he wed in Hawaii on May 20, 2006.
The death of Beth reportedly left Duane in a very sad state about which he has opened up several times since her passing. However, the reality star has found comfort in his Colorado rancher girlfriend Francie Frane. The pair got engaged in May.
Frane said at the time: “I think I had gone to pick up some food and then when I came back he had all the lights turned down with just a few lights on and a bunch of candles lit... So I put all the food in the kitchen and I came in and he said, 'I know that God brought you into my life and I don't want to spend one moment of it without you'. And he got down on one knee and he opened the ring box and he said, 'Will you marry me and spend the rest of our lives together?'”
“Who can say no to that? It was wonderful,” the 51-year-old added.
While Duane spoke about their marriage plans and said, “I've had so many fans ask 'When you marry Francie, are you going to let your fans come? So we're negotiating right now because I want to open it up. I would love to have the biggest wedding there's ever been. I'm sorry but that's just me. I hope I can talk Francie into it and open it to my fans, the 'Dog Pound,' to everybody.”
