'It feels so bad': Kevin Costner admits he still loves Christine Baumgartner after child support win
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After gaining victory in the courtroom, Kevin Costner discussed his and Christine Baumgartner's divorce for the first time.
Costner admitted to his "love" for his ex-wife Baumgartner during his conversation with Access Hollywood following his child support win on Friday.
What did Kevin Costner say about Christine Baumgartner?
He said, "This is a horrible place to be, but this is where we're at." "It feels so bad," the actor, 68, said outside of the courtroom. "We're talking about somebody I love on the other side. I just can't."
When the outlet asked whether Costner "still has love" for his estranged wife, he replied, "Of course."
Despite making a joke while testifying, the Oscar winner stated that he "wasn't... laughing" about their divorce procedures.
When Costner was accused of earning more money than he had previously disclosed by Baumgartner's attorney, he joked, "We'll have to go on a treasure hunt to find it."
The Golden Globe winner has spoken about his acrimonious divorce from the handbag designer on the witness stand and in court records, but his comments on Friday were his first time speaking openly about the split since Baumgartner filed for divorce in May.
Since then, the ex-couple have been involved in an ugly accusation war, with Costner even alleging that his ex is seeing his close buddy Josh Connor, with whom she went on vacation in July.
What are Kevin Costner's accusations against Christine Baumgartner?
Costner has accused Baumgartner of receiving $20,000 in cash from the investor.
The model, on the other hand, claimed through her attorney that Costner was "withholding" financial documents, a claim he later refuted while testifying.
What did Christine Baumgartner ask from Kevin Costner?
She first asked for $175,057 in monthly installments from her ex to support their three children — Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13 — but then lowered her demand to $161,592.
Notably, Baumgartner said at the time that luxury is "in their DNA at this point" for the youngsters.
However, according to TMZ, Costner was only mandated to pay $63,209 in child support each month as of Friday.
Baumgartner, who had requested $248,000 per month in June, has not yet commented on the Emmy winner's court victory.
When did Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner date?
She and Costner dated for five years before getting married in September 2004. She agreed to a prenuptial agreement at the time, which called for her to leave their home once they divorced.
Baumgartner was compelled to leave the following month after a judge upheld the prenuptial agreement, despite Costner's claims that she was refusing to leave in June.
At the time, Page Six obtained images of Baumgartner being moved to a "smaller home" on their Santa Barbara, California, property using U-Haul trucks.
A source spilled on the "temporary solution," stating that Baumgartner was "still looking" for a new place, and that "she is staying in the area to not disrupt the kids' lives."
