MIAMI, FLORIDA: Basketball superstar LeBron James has added his voice to the growing number of netizens criticizing the National Football League's suspension of a cameraman for capturing Tyreek Hill's celebratory backflip selfie.

Kevin Fitzgibbons, a 20-year-old junior from the University of Miami who has been creating content for the Miami Dolphins' wide receiver, shared a video on social media this week detailing how his season credentials were suspended.

Fitzgibbons mentioned that he had applied to the NFL in 2022 and was hired to cover Dolphins games in Miami.

During the sixth week of Miami’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Hill scored a touchdown and ran toward Fitzgibbons, grabbing his phone as part of his celebration.

Hill was reportedly penalized for this act, and Fitzgibbons was informed by the NFL that he would be suspended for the rest of the season, and "possibly for good."

LeBron James took to Instagram to express his disappointment with the NFL in his stories. As she shared a post about the news, he wrote alongside it, "Man this is F’d UP!!!"

Commenting on the situation further, James said, "Suspended for the year and possibly for good! C’mon NFL! Do better! S**t ain’t that serious."

Internet divided over LeBron James' comments

A user who appears to be an athlete on X wrote, "In the course of a day this kids whole life is changing. His following exploded and now even lebron James is talking about it."

"Thats awesome. NFL sucks so it may not do anything for that but with the amount of exposure he got he’s gonna be able to have lots of other opportunities. You love to see it," he added.

Another user expressed his dislike for the basketball star, writing, "Foul mouth Lebron never fails. He does not see the issue with this? Lebron himself has no filter. Remember you are just a player not a philosopher. Maybe Hillary and your dem friends appreciate your lack of discipline."

"Ngl the NFL firing that cameraman low key the best thing that ever happened to him. Getting posted by LeBron James and sports illustrated gonna get him even more opportunities lmfao," penned another.
