Diet Prada slams UK media for racist reporting on Meghan Markle, Internet says 'power doesn't include kindness'
Popular Instagram blogger Diet Prada has called out the UK media for racist reporting by pointing out the key difference in how the media reported Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton vs how it reported about Meghan Markle.
From the bouquet that Markle chose vs the one that Middleton chose, by calling the former a cause of major accident vs embarrassment and the latter a beautiful symbol — many instances have been quoted.
This came in the face of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey in which the couple opened up about a lot of things that have caused them to step down from the royal duties. The clip that was specifically used by the Instagram blogger is of Markle confessing how there were discussions regarding the color of her child's skin and how that would look.

This confession shocked Winfrey, who wanted to know who was having these conversations, and Markle refused to answer citing how that would be damaging to the person. Following this clip, there were comparison infographics regarding a number of instances where similar incidents were reported quite differently. The caption of the post read, "Oprah’s reaction is all of us 🤬. Fucked up, but we already knew... Who’s watching the CBS special?"
Diet Prada wrote, "The smear campaign against Meghan is blatant from the headlines, comparison to Kate, racist memes, imagery and use of coded language such a "diva" and "uppity". They pointed out how the way Prince Andrew has been treated since he was forced to step down after allegations of sexual abuse was very different from the targeted reportage that Harry and Markle have been forced to deal with. The post questioned, "Where's the same energy for Prince Andrew?"
The infographic also put together some terrible and racist comments about Markle since her entry into the royal family. From people commenting on how she would have only been a mistress 70 years ago to blaming her for putting her hands in the pockets, there have been various instances where the reporting seems hypocritical. For instance, the reporting around Queen putting her hands in the pockets was much different.
Similarly, when Markle had been photographed cradling baby bump, many had a question if it was vanity or a new way of forming a bond. However, Middleton doing the same was reported with a headline, "tenderly cradles her baby bump".
'She's too good for the royal family'
Followers have since commented on the post in support of Markle. One follower wrote, "She was too good for the royal family! Prince Andrew is literally accused of misconduct with trafficked minors and the media’s busy giving Queen Meaghan dog’s abuse!" Another commented, " She seemed thrown under the bus to clout the real nasty issue about Andrew."
One follower commented, "How is this comment shocking? It comes from the country who began the largest slave trade in the world, a history of racism, elitism, slavery, caste systems, oppression. Of course nothing has changed. Sustaining power like this royal family does not include kindness." One follower also blamed the general public for their racist comments and wrote, "it’s not just the media, i just read comments on facebook being so rude about her and calling her names and it really pissed me off."
