Was Diddy insensitive in viral Insta post? Internet slams millionaire rapper despite generous Miami giveaway
Diddy got on everyone's good books after a massive giveaway in a Miami neighborhood, handing out $50 bills amid a crowd of hundreds. Publix supermarket gift cards and bags containing hygiene products were also handed out by Diddy, who wore a clear face shield and black gloves during the charity event. This was in addition to Diddy’s foundation working to provide rental assistance for 175 families.
But all that goodwill he scored was soured with one 'insensitive' Instagram post by the rapper, who seemed to be mocking those who weren't able to hustle up enough cash for their needs in 2020. The IG post, featuring white text on a black background, said: "If 2020 did not bring the Hustle out of you, it ain't in you" In a caption accompanying the post, the rapper said: "truth! let’s f****n go!!!!!" One comment by a mental health advocate on Diddy's IG post (that got 4000 plus likes) remarked: "For some yes indeed and for others, just waking up and putting food on the table was a struggle in 2020."
Twitter users slammed the rapper for being out of touch because of his wealth. One tweet said: "Diddy and his rich friends are annoying, posting that hustle s**t. They have no idea what us regulars have gone/are going thru, this year, while another fan, who was annoyed, remarked: "u know i go up for diddy but THAT ain't IT right now. it ain't 1995, 350,000 people are dead, millions are infected, millions are homeless and whole businesses are gone. we gotta start from scratch cause this whole country is FUBAR". Another user also did some plain-speaking, tweeted: "Diddy on IG talkin about if this year didn’t bring out the hustle in you, it ain’t in you. Wealthy people are so out of touch, and I wish they’d shut the f**k up sometimes."

Diddy was earlier in the news on December 22 for gifting his mother Janice Combs one million dollars and a brand new Bentley for her 80th birthday during a lavish party. Listed as one of the 'Richest In Hip-Hop' in the Forbes 2020 list, Diddy made $55 million in earnings this year, mostly from being Ciroc Vodka's brand ambassador. Explaining his talent for the hustle, Diddy had revealed: "I started my business career at age 12, delivering newspapers. Since then, I’ve always understood that if I give the customers my best and service them differently, whether music, clothing, or vodka, I’ll get a return on my hard work."
An irate user commenting said: "ain't no 'hustle' to be had we are about to be in another great depression. even musicians/artists can't hustle cause there are no consumers to be had," as if warning Diddy that he might soon see his income dry up too if the recession hits hard and impacts the market for luxury products. "Diddy just said on Instagram that if 2020 didn't bring out the hustle in you, it's not in you. Diddy is so far out of touch with reality that it's actually mindboggling at this point," remarked another sarcastically.

However, some fans did come out in defense of the artiste's take. "Give him a break. He's just trying to encourage people to hustle. He's trying to help," said one fan, while another tweet doubled down hard on Diddy's 2020 philosophy, saying: "Ima side w Diddy on this one....Maybe he could use different verbiage but the message remains the same."

This was the year of overcoming. If you hit rock bottom and made a way, no matter what, that’s a certain kinda hustle in them.
Other ppl have a different hustle, IG 🤷🏾♀️ https://t.co/8zDflNU3Ht
Diddy's fortune is an estimated $820 million to $885 million according to the latest 2020 figures. He is just a step away from becoming a bonafide billionaire.
