LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During her Eras Tour stop in Mexico City, Taylor Swift appeared to poke fun at Kanye West by referencing their infamous altercation at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 'Bad Blood' singer was taken aback during her performance on Sunday, August 27, when the crowd suddenly started chanting "Taylor," leaving her momentarily speechless.

However, the singer-songwriter soon stated, "The best way to be interrupted, by the way, just people chanting your name," adding, "It's really the only way to be interrupted, and I would know," apparently alluding to the time when West interrupted her during the MTV Video Music Awards about 14 years ago.

What happened between Taylor Swift and Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards?

Kanye West stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009, while Taylor Swift, who was 19 at the time, was accepting the award for Best Female Video for her song 'You Belong With Me', and declared that Beyonce's music video deserved to win.

The 'Runaway' singer grabbed Swift's microphone and said, "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish. But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!" taking about Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' video.

Even though the interaction occurred so long ago, it sparked a long-running feud between the two musicians.

However, Sunday's performance wasn't the first time that Swift has referenced the 'Donda' star in her tour. During her show at Lumen Field in Seattle in July, she laughed at the idea of forgiving her longtime nemesis, West.

The Grammy winner decided to perform her 2017 diss track 'This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things' for the first time in five years during the event before she laughed and remarked, "And here's to you, 'cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do," as per Page Six

Fans react to Taylor Swift throwing shade at Kanye West

As soon as a clip from the concert went viral on X (formerly Twitter), netizens flocked to share their opinions regarding the situation.

A fan of Swift wrote ""that's one of the best ways to be interrupted, and i would know" TAYLOR WE LOVE YOU."

"She's actually correct, when you're up there little things can distract you," explained one about how interruptions can be distracting to a performer.

Another quipped, "Oh kanye what are you doing on the floor," while one more fan added, "She knows that no one can interrupt her anymore 😭😭 the Kanye vma shade 💀."
