LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Costner is facing a tough time as he deals with a nasty divorce battle with his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner who filed for divorce in May 2023 after 17 years of marriage. A source told OK! Magazine that the actor feels "abandoned" by his former handbag designer spouse.
The source added Christine Baumgartner was angry over his workaholic ways. Now "they’re lashing out at each other. There is a lot of anger, and pain that is unfortunately that is motivating their decisions,” the insider said.
'It has been hard for the children'
"It has been hard for the children, understandably,” the source added of the three tots, Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. “There are a lot of emotions at play.” The 'Yellowstone' star's representative confirmed in May 2023 that Baumgartner filed for divorce due to "circumstances beyond his control." She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup, according to documents obtained by People.
Fighting over prenup and child support
Since then, the two have been fighting over the prenup and child support. According to court documents obtained by the publication on July 13, 2023, Costner claimed he never said he would pay for his ex's lavish lifestyle and said he has been paying for all of the children's expenses since the split. He was ordered to pay $129,755 per month in child support, as well as $200,000 in attorney’s fees and $100,000 in forensic costs. He also demanded that Baumgartner leave his Santa Barbar mansion within 30 days, as per the prenup.
Workaholic ways ruined his marriage
A source revealed that one of the main reasons for the divorce was Costner's busy work schedule, which made Baumgartner feel neglected and resentful. "She’s so angry with Kevin for what she feels led to the end of their marriage — him putting work ahead of the family," the source said. The actor, who has won two Oscars and starred in hits like The 'Dances with Wolves' star is currently filming the fifth season of 'Yellowstone,' a popular drama series about a ranching family in Montana. The show is expected to end with season five in November 2023 and a sequel series will debut a month later.
