THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears shared an Instagram post on October 25, Tuesday night, where she was seen wearing a bright red bikini. She captioned her post, calling out the 'hypocrites' of the industry. However, after the fans connected the dots and figured she was pointing fingers toward Selena Gomez, Britney edited the caption of her post three hours later. In the caption, she seemed to call out her fellow female stars who "stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram" but "made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream" for "HUGE budget dreams."
Fans realized the 'Toxic' singer's post's connection with Selena's 2016 AMAs speech and a song collaboration she did in the year 2020. After receiving negative comments on her post, Britney seemed to have edited the caption which sort of confirmed the speculations fans had about her 'shading' Selena.

Britney Spears has been making headlines for her controversial posts and opinions. So her October 25 'red bikini' post has surprised no one. The long caption read: "Don’t you just love the nerve of women who stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram ???!!!!!" It continued with a subtle shade directed at Selena, saying "They say 'This is NOT something I would do' yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream 🍦!!!!" She then encouraged all girls to flaunt their bodies as she said, "These other girls have nothing but beautiful bodies !!!! Who cares if the flaunt it ??? THEY SHOULD !!!" She then goes on calling out the hypocrites as she says, "So the next time I see someone with a big budget video sucking on lollipops 🍭 yet giving righteous speeches shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I would like to tell those people don’t be a hypocrite as you suck on your lollipop having HUGE budget dreams … why would you stand firmly against girls getting attention JUST LIKE YOU and they have absolutely nothing ????"
Since the music star edited the caption after receiving a backlash from Selena fans, another fan backup account reposted the images with the original caption.
Fans pointed out that Britney mentioned instances that referenced Selena's activities. While receiving the 2016 AMAs for the favorite female artist — pop/rock, Selena said in her acceptance speech, "I don't wanna see your bodies on Instagram, I wanna see what's in here." The later part of the caption seemed to call out Selena's collaboration with BlackPink on the song 'Ice Cream'. According to the comments on her post, fans pointed out how she misunderstood the meaning behind Selena's words and said she has been nothing but supportive throughout.
A fan commented on her post, "Brit dear, you didn't get the message in selena's speech! She was not referrig to you, let go!
