Desmond Carter seen next to Madison Brooks in disturbing video as he is tried for alleged rape of LSU student

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: Desmond Carter, 17, one of the suspects accused of raping 19-year-old LSU student Madison Brooks in a car on January 15, was pictured for the first time after the court decided three weeks ago to charge the suspect as an adult. Carter, who is charged with first- and third-degree rape, was a member of the Walker High School varsity football team and was seen with a girl wearing the team's jersey.
The photo was shared by DailyMail, which stated that Carter is also seen sitting next to Brooks staring at her in the 29-second clip released by the suspect's lawyers in February 2023. Carter's identity remained secret until authorities charged him as an adult. Before that, he was listed as a juvenile.

What happened to Madison Brooks?
Brooks, who was at Reggie's Bar at 1176 Bob Pettit Boulevard in East Baton Rouge, was served alcohol despite being underage. Brooks left Reggie's Bar with the four suspects between 1.am and 2.am, according to a Yahoo report! During that time, she was allegedly raped in the backseat of the car by two of the four men. She argued with the suspects as she tried to get out of the car, and was heard saying that she was "going to book herself an Uber." Further, she said, "I'm sorry that I offended you that bad," before allegedly insulting the driver of the car, Casen Carver, 18, according to Daily Mail. She then got out of the car near the Pelican Lakes Subdivision on Burbank Drive around 3.am and was reportedly struck and killed by a passing car. She was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. According to the report, the autopsy revealed Brooks' blood alcohol level at the time of her death was 0.319 percent, four times the legal limit.

Carter is a student of Walker High School, who was on the school's Varsity Football team roster for the 2022 season, as per DailyMail. The court documents show that was formally charged with first-degree rape and third-degree rape on January 15, according to WAFB. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on February 28. Along with Carter, Carver, Kaivon Washington, 18, and Everett Lee, 28, have also been charged with third sexual assault and principle to third-degree rape, meaning they were present but did not take part in the alleged crime. In addition to these charges, as per court documents show that Washington was arrested for alleged rape in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, in the same area of Baton Rouge in October 2022, as per the news outlet.
