'I will Uber on my own': Madison Brooks’ chilling final words revealed
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: An unsettling new video shows Madi Brooks, a student at Louisiana State University, mumbling her words and apologizing to four men in a car after the alleged rape, just before she was struck by a car and killed. The 19-year-old Alpha Phi sorority sister was hit by a ride-sharing vehicle at 3.00 am last month in East Baton Rouge and died soon after getting out of the vehicle.
Madi can be heard trying to speak as Kaivon Washington, 18, records himself and what's going on inside the vehicle after an alleged argument erupted. In the 29-second footage, Madi can be heard telling Desmond Carter, 17, to "get out" of the vehicle so she can "Uber on her own." It was captured following the alleged rape of Madi by Carter and Washington on January 15 in the back of the car after they had picked her up from Reggie's bar in Tigerland, Louisiana.

'I'm sorry that I offended you that bad'
Defense attorneys on Monday, February 13, presented 29-second video footage that they feel will clear the accused. The footage was taken just before Brooks exited the car in which the alleged rape happened, reports WBRZ-2. Defense attorneys claim that it was taped following consensual sexual activity between Brooks and two of their clients. "I'm sorry that I offended you that bad," Brooks can be heard saying to the other people in the car. "Get out, get out. I will Uber on my own." Brooks is seen getting out of the car in the footage. As she exits, she refers to the driver as "gay."
Police have charged the driver with accessory to rape even though they don't think he participated in any sexual activity with Brooks. "Speaking, engaging in conversations ... very vulgar language to the driver of the vehicle," lawyer Ron Haley stated in explaining the video. "Implying that he's not straight based on him not wanting to engage in certain activities with her. It doesn't put anyone in the best light, but again, not being put in the best light isn't the same thing as rape."
'Prosecution claims they plan to upgrade charges'
Carter now faces life in prison for the attack after a grand jury upgraded his charges to first-degree rape. His photograph has not been made public. Washington is also accused of raping Madi and is presently charged with third-degree rape. However, the prosecution claims they plan to upgrade the charges. Everett Lee, 28, and Carver have both been accused of watching the other two assault the intoxicated student.
Video evidence was previously presented to the court by Washington's attorneys in an effort to show that the inebriated sorority girl was capable of giving her consent to the acts, but the judge thought it demonstrated "criminality." The judge's "inappropriate" remarks could "taint the public opinion" of the defendants, according to a legal expert. Washington is allegedly heard laughing at Madi in the video as she stumbles over her words following the alleged rape. He is still being held in the Livingston Parish Jail just a day after being freed on a $150,000 bond in connection with Madi. According to Louisiana law, rape in the first degree carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole, reports Daily Mail.
