Denver gunman shot cop MULTIPLE times as she asked him to put his weapon down
DENVER, COLORADO: A shooting spree ensued in Denver and Lakewood, Colorado early this week which has left at least five people dead and three more injured, according to police reports. The armed attacker shot two women and two men in separate shootings before starting to fire at cops who were called by witnesses on the scene. He also shot a passerby in Lakewood and went ahead to shoot a clerk at the Hyatt House hotel.
Witnesses have reported that the man was tall, had blonde hair, and was wearing a trench coat. They have also talked about the police officer who was shot multiple times by the gunman while she asked him to put his weapon down, in the Colorado incident. “She yelled, ‘put your gun down' and he turned around and, like, pulled up the gun and shot her right in front of us, multiple times,” a witness reported. The police officer was rushed to a hospital and is currently undergoing surgery.

The suspect, however, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is yet unclear if he died in the exchange of fire between him and Lakewood City Police. The incident has left people around the area shocked and questioning their safety. Many witnesses have come forward to give their statements to the police. Police Chief Paul Pazen said: “To see this type of spree take place is not normal in our community. This one individual was responsible for this very violent crime spree that took place this evening."
Lili Gilbert, 18, an employee at Nordstrom was working her shift at the time the shooting occurred. Police officers helped get staff and customers to gather together at the back of the store for safety. Another woman who was shopping at an Xfinity store said she heard some popping noises after which Xfinity employees began to quickly usher everyone to a backroom for safety.
Police have not yet made any arrests but have confirmed and assured that there is no major threat to the community that can be concluded from the attacks. Investigation about the case is ongoing and the police hope to get new leads to dive deeper into the case.
