LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After Bruce Willis received his life-altering diagnosis, Demi Moore acted as the glue that kept the family together. According to reports, the 'GI Jane' actress "will do anything" to make Bruce's last moments — or years — spent with his family happy. The actor and Moore have three adult daughters together, and she has remained by his side as his illness worsens.

The actor, 68, announced his retirement from acting last year after learning he had aphasia, a neurological condition that prevents people from speaking. Since then, he has developed a form of dementia. Bruce's wife, Emma Heming, recently shared, "Sometimes it feels like you're just free-falling. This journey may seem incredibly gloomy." But as they struggle to find their way through the dark, Hemming and Willis discovered a source of light in Moore.

'Demi is actually a lifesaver'

An insider shared, "Emma is grateful to have Demi around. It's been incredibly difficult for Emma to manage Bruce's care, their two young daughters, and the grief she's experiencing. So Demi isn't stepping on her toes. Demi is actually a lifesaver." Since learning that Bruce has frontotemporal dementia, for which there is neither a cure nor a treatment, Demi and the rest of his family have begun preparing for his demise. The source said, "Demi has stepped in to make sure every holiday, birthday, and get-together is as celebratory as possible," according to Radar Online.

The entire family came together for a large outdoor egg hunt on Easter. On a video of the event Hemming wrote, "We're here to win it!" as Moore and the other Easter egg hunt participants were getting ready to begin. According to the insider, "This past Easter and Christmas may have been Bruce's last, and Demi will do all it takes to make his dying moments the greatest of his life so that Bruce's girls can create even wonderful memories with their father."

'Demi threw him a special 68th birthday celebration'

The source unveiled, "Demi threw him a special 68th birthday celebration in March. The actress, 60, posted a clip of a smiling Bruce singing "Happy Birthday" to himself. Alongside him were Bruce's daughters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 8, as well as Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 29, and Emma, 44. The insider said, "It meant the world to Bruce. You could see it in his eyes." The National Institute on Aging reports that when symptoms progress, "some people live more than 10 years after diagnosis, while others live less than two years."
