Demi Lovato had released her new song ‘Commander In Chief’ on October 14, 2020, in collaboration with Billie Eilish’s music producer brother Finneas which supposedly mocks US President Donald Trump. Now, the song has caught the attention of Trump protesters as the track was recently played in front of the White House on the day of the election i.e. November 3, 2020 (Tuesday).

The American singer was quick to react to the situation and took to her Instagram to express her opinion on the same. The 28-year-old crooner, who enjoys a massive 93.2 million followers on her Instagram account, posted a few stories where we can see a video snippet of a news channel going live from the White House while her new song ‘Commander In Chief’ plays in the background. She placed a text in one of the stories and said, “This is incredibly powerful…having my song blare outside the White House on the election day is so meaningful and moving to me. This is why we made this song.”  In another story, she added, “I hope he heard it” apparently aiming at Trump.

The lyrics of the much-discussed song go like, “Commander in Chief, honestly, If I did the things you do, I couldn't sleep/Seriously, do you even know the truth? We're in a state of crisis, people are dying/While you line your pockets deep, Commander in Chief, How does it feel to still be able to breathe?”

Speaking on the song, the Internet had reacted promptly during the release. One user had said, “I think politicians should listen to this song Right pointing backhand index "Commander In Chief" by Demi Lovato.” Another said, “Okay but I’ve listened to Commander in Chief by @ddlovato like 15 times today. Its an amazing song. I agree with everything in it.” One had earlier tweeted, “What a sauce from Demi Lovato.... Commander in Chief... Listen n thank me later.”

Demi Lovato had also performed her new song at the recent 2020 Billboard Music Awards. According to NME, the singer had responded to the backlash she received over the song by saying, “I literally don’t care if this ruins my career. This isn’t about that. My career isn’t about that. I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in. And I’m putting it out even at the risk of losing fans. I’ll take integrity in my work over sales any day.”
