WHOOSH! Debra Messing tells Susan Sarandon to 'STFU' after totally misunderstanding her Donald Trump statement

Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon are feuding again. After throwing their lot behind different Democratic nominees in 2016 (Messing for Hillary Clinton and Sarandon for Bernie Sanders), the two seemed to be at loggerheads over what Sarandon is reported to have said to a publication about "more women and people of color running for office" due to President Donald Trump.

The misunderstanding seems to have stemmed from Variety's headline which said: "Trump has, if anything, inspired more women and people of color to run for office, says actress Susan Sarandon."

"This is a revolution. Maybe things had to get so bad before real change actually could happen. We just have to stay awake," Sarandon shared.

Messing miscontrued this as a support for Trump and hit back at Sarandon, tweeting: "STFU SUSAN. Oh yes, PLEASE let’s give Trump CREDIT. I mean how else are you able to walk out on the street. Convince yourself that this CATASTROPHE of a President who you said was better that [Hillary Clinton] IS NOT ripping children away from parents seeking asylum".

Seventy one-year-old Sarandon was quick to retaliate and said, "Debs, before you get yourself all self-righteous try clicking on the video and listening to what I actually say, not @Variety’s clickbait headline, which btw has no quotation marks. That’s a clue."

Through her tweets, Messing countered all those who want to run out of "desperation" and "panic" because of Trump. Debra also called Sarandon out for opposing Clinton in the 2016 presidential election in favor of Bernie Sanders. Sarandon has publicly been a vocal critic of the Democratic party for several years and Debra has been a vocal supporter of Clinton.
