LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Since the CW announced a new Sherlock-themed spinoff series 'Watson,' focused on Sherlock Holmes's companion, fans have been anticipating whether they will witness the famed detective dust off his deerstalker cap and wield his magnifying glass once more on their screens. 

Fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as the CW has officially announced a new series titled 'Sherlock & Daughter.'

The series will have an interesting take, wherein the legendary sleuth will have an unusual sidekick, his daughter.

Sherlock Holmes will collaborate with his daughter, Amelia

According to Screen Rant, the CW indicated their plans for the future of the Holmes franchise at the TCA Winter Press Tour.

During the Press Tour, it became evident that the show would have a peculiar additional turn with the introduction of Amelia (Blu Hunt), who believes the investigator to be his father after her mother's death, adding an enormous surprise to Holmes' character arc.

Furthermore, the series will star David Thewlis, renowned for the portrayal of Remus Lupin in the 'Harry Potter' franchise, as the protagonist for 'Holmes & Daughter'.

Fans are wary about the inclusion of the daughter in the series

Opinions among fans are divided on the new storyline, with many expressing the view that the introduction of Sherlock's daughter is an unnecessary addition to the series.

While an X user welcomed David Thewlis' casting as the renowned investigator, they were skeptical about the inclusion of Sherlok's daughter in the plot.

A user shared their opinion by writing, "Love David Thewlis but don't love the concept of Sherlock having a daughter so I guess I won't be watching."

A fan expressed excitement about David Thewlis' portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the upcoming CW TV series, writing, "David Thewlis is gonna be Sherlock Holmes in a new CW TV series titled “Sherlock & Daughter” I am both shocked and intrigued."

Another fan expressed their surprise and questioned, "BUT WAIT WHY THE F**K DOES SHERLOCK HAVE A DAUGHTER."
