Why did David Boreanaz delete all Instagram posts? Here's why 'SEAL Team' star needs to address Joss Whedon abuse

The Internet wants to 'turn it into a witch hunt', says 'Angel was never around when you needed him'

'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' fans are calling out stars David Boreanaz and Alyson Hannigan for staying quiet amid the claims of abuse made against show creator Joss Whedon, 56. Earlier this week Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia on the hit show, accused Whedon of creating a 'toxic' atmosphere on set and 'abusing his power'.

Michelle Trachtenberg, 35, who played Buffy's younger sister, also spoke up after Carpenter's confession, saying that Whedon ‘was not appropriate’ when she was a teen (between 15 to 18 years old) on the series. “Joss Whedon abused his power on numerous occasions while working on the sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel,” Carpenter claimed in a tweet. "The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation and, at times, destructively.”

As several cast members have voiced their support for Carpenter, fans of the show are questioning why two key cast members; Boreanaz, who played Angel, and Hannigan, who played Willow, have said nothing so far. Boreanaz, 51, also went as far as to wipe off all his Instagram posts, except for the 'SEAL' trailer post.

As several cast members have voiced their support for Carpenter, fans of the show are questioning why two key cast members — Boreanaz, who played Angel and Hannigan, who played Willow — have said nothing so far. Boreanaz, 51, also went as far as to wipe off all his Instagram posts, except for the 'SEAL' trailer post.

'SEAL Team' and 'Bones' actor Boreanaz's mysterious move garnered suspicion from the Internet. "How it's going in the Buffyverse today: Charisma Carpenter spoke up about abuse from Joss SMG basically said "f*** that guy" Michelle Trachtenberg flat out said he was abusive David Boreanaz took his Twitter private In summary, Joss did whatever they're saying," said a tweet.

"V.telling that Emily Deschanel shows support for Charisma Carpenter but her Co-star on Bones and Angel star David Boreanaz privates his Twitter and wipes his Instagram," said another. The star's Twitter account has, however, been republicized since. 

A Twitter user brought up how the actor was accused of sexual harassment before, saying: "Not y'all wanting David Boreanaz to speak out about Joss Whedon when he himself was sued for sexual harassment."

"Let's be honest... this is why we haven't heard sh*t from David Boreanaz. The guy has his own past allegations of abuse and toxicity and knows if he says anything about Joss Whedon, it would undoubtedly bring his past behaviour into the conversation," another tweet read, sharing a screenshot of the article. "Alyson Hannigan- Silent David Boreanaz- Silent Anthony Stewart Head- says he saw nothing. Sarah Michelle Gellar- Says she stands in solidarity & condemns abuse. Eliza Dushku- Saw nothing but stands in solidarity. Convincing stuff," said another. Another Twitter user shared a screenshot of Whedon's Wikipedia page, where it shows that he has repeatedly cast the same actors time and again for his projects. The tweet said, "I’ve already said this but don’t expect Alyson Hannigan, Alexis Denisof or Amy Acker to publicly support Charisma Carpenter. Do your research people. I’m still holding out hope for David Boreanaz. C’mon David."

Netizens noted Boreanaz's silence, saying "It's really sad, that @AllCharisma co stars on Angel @David_Boreanaz @AlexisDenisof @alydenisof havn't publicly voiced their support, but seem to have the time to publicise their upcoming projects . If it was happening to their  'd ones, I'm sure they would think differently." People supported a comment by James Masters, who played the vampire Spike, saying "He supports his co-stars, he too had a run in with Joss Whedon. James has balls to speak out, unlike David Boreanaz who has wiped his Instagram feed bar one post AND protected his tweets. That speaks volumes...and is very disappointing". Another tweet said, "Seems typical that David Boreanaz deleted his Instagram. Angel was never around when you needed him." "So just turn it into a witch hunt or what?" quipped a Twitter user. 

Two other key cast members; Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander Harris, and Seth Green, who played Oz, are also yet to comment as well.
