CHICAGO, United States: Apple TV+ is serving up a new sci-fi thriller series titled 'Dark Matter,' premiering on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Based on the gripping novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, who also acts as the series creator, 'Dark Matter' promises an eight-episode journey that will challenge your perception of reality.

In Episode 1, Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a seemingly ordinary physics professor, leads a comfortable life with his wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and son Charlie (Oakes Fegley).

Despite a hint of jealousy towards his award-winning friend, Ryan Holder (Jimmi Simpson), Jason appears content.

However, a secret visit to a dusty storage locker hints at a hidden past. Later, a happy family dinner takes a sinister turn when Jason steps outside.

As Jason closes his front door, the ordinary sound becomes the last bit of normal he'll hear for a while.

As the episode reaches its climax, Jason is thrust into a mind-bending reality, leaving viewers desperate to understand what transpired and the dark secret he may be battling to keep hidden.

After a fight with a masked attacker who looked suspiciously like him, Jason regained consciousness in a strange medical room. He meets a woman named Amanda (Alice Braga) who seems to know him, although Jason couldn't recall ever meeting her before.

The situation took a bizarre turn when he met another guy, Leighton (Dayo Okeniyi). Surrounded by scientists, Jason was questioned about an 'experience' he had no recollection of.

The situation escalated when Amanda delivered a bombshell: Jason had been missing for 14 months.

While everyone thought they were talking to the old Jason, the present version of him felt utterly disoriented and overwhelmed, prompting him to flee from the scene.

Meanwhile, in what he believed to be his own home, the current reality Jason encountered Amanda, yet the house appeared unfamiliar. Spotting an award that presumably belonged to the alternate reality Jason, confusion flooded his mind.

Suddenly, security guards rushed in, prompting the current reality Jason to flee from the premises.

Meanwhile, in an alternate reality, Jason, wearing the other Jason's wedding ring, was settling into a comfortable routine with his wife, Daniela. It appeared that the alternate reality Jason coveted the life that the current reality Jason had built

However, it was evident that in the current reality, Jason might have wished for some success, but not at the cost of losing his family. He loved his wife and son and wouldn't give them up.

'Dark Matter' is available to stream on Apple TV+.
