‘Yer a father, Harry’: Fans rejoice as Daniel Radcliffe expecting first child with his partner Erin Darke

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Harry Potter is all set to become a parent in real life. 'Harry Potter' star Daniel Radcliffe, 33, and his decade-long partner Erin Darke, 38, are expecting their first child together, as per reports. A source close to the couple recently informed a global news outlet that the couple “can’t wait to become a family of three”.

The 'Miracle Workers' star and Darke, who live together in New York City, met during the filming of ‘Kill Your Darling’ in 2012. The fiercely private couple did not announce the happy news formally, however, recently they were photographed strolling through the city where the ‘Still Alice’ star’s very pregnant belly was visible.

A source close to the pair told The Mirror, “Daniel and Erin could not be happier to be expecting. They are absolutely thrilled, and can’t wait to become a family of three,” before adding, “They told their families and friends recently. It’s an incredibly exciting time.”

According to The Sun, another source said, “Daniel is so excited to be a dad. His relationship with Erin is really special and everyone thinks they will be amazing parents.” “They have kept it pretty quiet up until now but she can't hide her bump anymore,” the representative for the couple added.

‘It'll be a hell of a story to tell our kids’

Talking about his relationship with Darke, the ‘boy who lived’ shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2020, "It'll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other.” The ‘Victor Frankenstein’ star further added, "Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting.”

In 2015, in an interview with Playboy, he revealed why he felt the sparks for the ‘Love & Mercy’ star on the sets of ‘Kill Your Darlings’. Referring to an intimate scene from the movie, Radcliffe said, “That’s a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time. There’s no acting going on—not from my end, anyway.” Reminiscing about the past, ‘Radcliffe said, “There’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”

In 2020, when Rupert Grint became a father, the second of the famous ‘Harry Potter’ trio to embrace parenthood told host Andy Cohen of Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens Live’, “It's also like super weird, for me, to think that we are all at the age where we are all having children, but we definitely are.”

The conversation ensued when Cohen asked the movie star whether he spoke to co-star and friend Rupert Grint when he welcomed a baby girl with his girlfriend Georgia Groome. The teen heartthrob commented, “Yes, I texted him the other day and said I was so happy for him and it's very very cool,” reports Daily Mail. 

'Harry was exploring her chamber of secrets'

As expected, social media were flooded with congratulatory messages for the private couple. While some comments referred to Radcliffe's stint in the multi-billion dollar film franchise, some were simply hilarious. One fan cheekily commented, "Harry was exploring her chamber of secrets," while referring to the second film of the franchise. Another fan commented, "Cursed child is real," again referring to the series. Assuming Hagrid's persona, one fan commented, "Yer a father, Harry." Another fan didn't let the opportunity pass to hilariously predict Radcliffe's baby's looks by captioning, "Predicting his looks."

Another fan commented, "I know that’s right Mr. Potter." Another user commented facetiously, "Aaw his magic wand works.. congrats!"

Another fan commented, "I'm so happy for him." "MINI POTTER," remarked another fan. "IM SO BEYOND HAPPY FOR HIM- he gave our childhoods so much joy, he deserves nothing but the best in life," said a gratified fan.
