Cuba Gooding Jr. accused of grabbing woman's breast at Manhattan rooftop club
The NYPD has reportedly opened an investigation after a 30-year-old woman claimed that actor Cuba Gooding Jr. inappropriately touched her at a Manhattan club on Sunday night.
Sources suggest that the 'Jerry Maguire' star was heavily intoxicated at the time. This is not the first time reports have emerged about the actor's drunken antics but it seems the 51-year-old may finally have crossed a line.
The alleged victim told officers she was socializing with the actor around 9 pm at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on 7th Avenue in Midtown when he grabbed her breast. They then got into a heated argument which reportedly had to be broken up by security at the club. The woman called the police around 1 am.
Social media posts place Gooding at the spot where he was reportedly captured on camera wearing a torn button-down shirt, enthusiastically singing “Faithfully” by Journey on the microphone.
A video reportedly shows the actor leaving the club soon after the time of the incident. Page Six reports that NYPD officers searched the area for Gooding but were not able to find him.
The report adds that the case has been referred to the NYPD’s Special Victims Division.
Back in 2016, Gooding attracted criticism after reports emerged of him going wild and partying it up in Miami. At the time, he was accused of being “beyond frisky with girls.” However an anonymous friend defended his actions at the time saying he has "always been a partier" and that he was just blowing off steam.
Reports also claimed that he danced shirtless, pulled his pants down and shoved a fellow partygoer's phone in his mouth during that particular incident.
The actor filed for divorce from Sara Kapfer in 2017 after over 20 years of marriage. He has been rumoured to be in a relationship with Claudine De Niro, Robert De Niro's son Raphael De Niro's ex-wife. The relationship has not yet been confirmed by either Gooding or De Niro. The actor has also chosen not to comment on the NYPD investigation.
