Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to get rid of his apartment in Trump Tower in New York City and he’s is even ready to take a massive loss on the sale.

The 36-year-old soccer star purchased an apartment at 721 Fifth Avenue back in 2015 before Donald Trump was elected as the president of the US. The deal was closed two months after Trump announced that he was running for president. Ronaldo bought the three-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom unit at 721 Fifth Avenue for a whopping $18.5 million.

But Ronaldo’s fans often asked the soccer star to sell the residence. He first listed the 2,510-square-foot abode in 2019 for less than half of what he bought it for, at $9 million. But without any offers and amid a rising pandemic, the athlete later slashed the price even further. The luxurious residence is also said to be an inspiration for “50 Shades’’ novel author EL James, who used the interior as a model for the notorious bondage bachelor pad of her fictional sexual sadist character, Christian Grey.

The entrance of the house is made up of black and white limestone designer floors and leads to the art gallery and living room, which is designed with an arched roof and two entrances that lead to the eat-in kitchenette. Mostly made up of burnished koa wood-paneling, the living spaces are intensified with 18th-century mosaic flooring. It also boasts panoramic views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The main bedroom has an en suite marble bath, a separate shower and an expansive dressing room. Amenities of the building include a private entrance, fitness room, 24-hour concierge with round-the-clock security and a private restaurant.

On May 19, 2021 property records reveal that the home is now on the market for only $7.75 million. While this comes as a vital loss for Ronaldo, he is probably not sweating it too much. According to Forbes, in 2020, he became the first active team-sport athlete to surpass $1 billion in career earnings. His four-year contract with Juventus alone is worth an average of $64 million a year and expires in 2022. According to Celebrity net worth, he has a total of $500 Million net worth. Ronaldo’s home mansion is located in his home city in Madeira, Portugal. The seven-story mansion reportedly cost Ronaldo around $8 million. Ronaldo also owns multiple cars and the notable ones include Buggati Chiron($4.7 million), Buggati Veyron($1.7 million), McLaren Senna($1 million), Lamborghini Aventador($340,000), Aston Martin DB9($200,000), Rolls Royce Ghost ($426,000).
